Here are more articles from our interim's visit to newspaper editorial boards around the state last week. Please keep in mind that the news and editorial departments at newspapers are seperate entities and rarely collaborate on anything. Here are the stories: Bryant happy as temp.
FAMU continues to make progress
Sunday's sermon
I visited the St. Eugene's Chapel & Catholic Student Center, on the edge of the FAMU Campus yesterday. Father Ilesanmi Osasona, St. Eugene's pastor, spoke about leadership. As he spoke about what leadership is and isn't, this eery feeling came over me. I thought, is Father Osasona purposely talking about the goings on at FAMU? Now, to his credit, he didn't call any names.
But here's a little bit of what he said: "Good leadership is just and caring and does not advance him/herself at the expense of others. Good leaders don't bear false witness. To be a leader you have to be a servant. Leaders consider the common good and the needs of others and encourges others to do the same. Leaders lead by example and not by fear and confusion."
Re. the "Bryant Continues to Make Progress" article...
ReplyDeleteAt whose expense is "progress" being made? yeah, she's making "progress, alright. on the back of the people who work hard and have worked hard at that school WAY before she showed up. You can't always measure "progress" by the results of what someone or something is, was and/or was not.I know CVB has made "progress" in terms of her salary. Now, that's a progressions, if ever I saw one.
I imagine that Cast-Hell IS "happy." Hell, she's done fired a s@$!-load of people and she's still getting paid that enormous salary. What a poor excuse for a leader. When she leaves, she may be known for having gotten the university's finances in some kind of order, but she's be remembered and will go down in history as having fired a bunch of good, loyal, hard-working people who didn't deserve the absolute raw treatment that she dished out.
ReplyDeletePlease we still have a $10M deficit! We still lack a permanent VP for administrative affairs and a shit load of qualified accountants and/or CPAs to manage our finances.
ReplyDeleteI had the opportunnity to listen in on a presentation by a SBI prof for the faculty. It was plain and simple the way he laid it out for people who do not have an accounting background. WE STILL HAVE A $10M DEFICIT! There is no surplus!
We've just submitted our operating budget almost 6 weeks too late.
CVB will go down in history as the IP that became the dragonslayer not caretaker and took FAMU where Gainous even refused to go.
ROCK BOTTOM
What a liar?
While this may be an absolute understatement, a person of CVB's character is certainly not one to be believed and trusted on what she prmotes in the public eye. Like Anonymous 11:10 says, the woman will be be remembered getting rid of a lot of really good people who were doing their job admirably, efficiently and with great pride and dignity. The lady just wants to show whose in charge. Listen up, Cast-Hell: we know at the present moment that you're the HNIC. You don't have to continue to mistreat, beat down and stomp into oblivion anyone else. We kow what size shoes you wear. Damn. Damn. Damn.
ReplyDeleteYeah - Some of her tactics have not been the best, but she has also done what a number of you have been complaining about that needed to be done for years ... And now you are simply getting what you've been asking for.
ReplyDeletePeople keep talking about a lot of people being wrongly fired ... But can any of you actually NAME some of these people who were wrongly fired?
I'm not going to dispute that maybe a few folks got caught in the crossfire, but at the same token, the Bottom Line is that some of these "good people" some of you speak of were also well aware of folks being on the school's payrolls who were NOT even in existence. And some of these people needed to be gone decades ago.
FTR ... Just how much of that $10M deficit consisted of "ghost employees"?
Lisa Lang-Hannah is still at FAMU and she was receiving three checks doing the payroll audit. She was escorted off-campus by the campus police after Castell fired her. She showed up later when Rev. R. B. called CVB on the carpet and told her to bring her back because she belongs to Bethel and is now on the usher board. She called Eva out of retirement and most people know that Eva should have been fired long before Ammons demoted her. She was baggage then and one can only guess what she is doing now. When the payroll audit was conducted, if Cast-hell could have called names, she would have without even a blink. If you are talking about people should have been gone, we can name more that are still on FAMU's payroll that need to be gone soley on productivity. Let me start with CVB, Liz, Altha, of course Delmas Barber, Ralph Coleman, Joe, and Jackie Maxie (who by the way have been fired from other state positions). This is only a starter list. If you need more we can supply it with documentation. Get with it.
ReplyDelete^^^And got a $25,000 raised after Gladys Lang raised that eye-brow to ole girl. Yelp it's true and her son was getting two checks as well. Five FAMU checks in one household.
ReplyDeleteEverybody in Eva's family is emloyed at FAMU from all the daughters to granddaughters and even step grandchillin'.
And the grand children that aren't employeed at FAMU are on scholarship! Go figure.
ReplyDeleteMESS...!
