Albert Chester threw five touchdown passes to lead Florida A&M to a 35-21 victory against rival Bethune-Cookman in front of an announced crowd of 71,216 at the 27th Florida Classic.
Chester threw for 339 yards on 22-of-34 passing. He spread the ball to five teammates, throwing two touchdown passes to Willie Hayward and one apiece to Roosevelt Kiser, Derek Williams and Ronald Wright. Chester was sacked five times during the game.
The Rattlers ended the season with a 7-4 overall record -- with one more victory than in 2005 -- and finished fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, with a 5-3 league record.
The penalties
Both teams were heavily penalized. The Rattlers picked up 197 yards in penalties, while the Wildcats incurred 15 penalties for 124 yards.
Halftime Battle
The Daytona News Journal gave the 100rd the edge in the halftime battle. The Journal wrote:
It was a tough call, but we might have to give a slight edge to the Rattlers with their closing number of "We Fly High" by Jim Jones and the Diplomats. The Marching 100 made themselves into the famous Michael Jordan silouhette and shot tennis balls at the end. B-CC, meanwhile, gets kudos for its rendition of "I Miss You" by Aaron Hall, dedicated to former B-CC band member Shantrice Noel, who died in a car accident last year.
