The FAMU mens and womens track team finished 8th and 9th (tie), respectively, at the MEAC Indoor Track and Field Champhionships over the weekend.
The Rattler teams were out run by the Spartans of Norfolk State and the Pirates of Hampton U. who repeaated as conference champs.
•Meanwhile, the Rattler basketball team put on a veritable shooting clinic in Gaither Gym Saturday night in a 93-60 romp over the Hawks of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Florida A&M (15-12, 9-5 in MEAC) shot a blistering 58.1 percent (36 of 62) from the floor and 64.3 (9 of 14) from three-point range on the evening as they ran away from the fledgling Hawks.
The Rattlers also owned a decided rebounding advantage, finishing the night with 50 rebounds, 36 on the defensive side, which limited UMES to 16 second chance points Saturday.
•The Lady Rattler basketball team was continuing their annual MEAC mid-season meltdown falling to Maryland-Eastern Shore 63-62 in Gaither Gymnasium.
UMES improved to11-14 (7-6 MEAC) despite shooting just 20.6 percent (7 of 34) from the floor and 14 percent (2 of 14) from three-point range. The Lady Rattler fell to
12-13 (8-6 MEAC).
