Rubin Carter should be a happy man today.

The Florida A&M football coach is two years into his tenure at the Tallahassee school and his improving program gets another boost today, this time from Brevard County.

Six FAMU commitments are among the 25 area players planning to sign national letter of intent papers today, the first day of the national signing period. It's a big day for coaches, athletes and parents as thousands of players across the country prepare to receive college scholarships.

None is more excited than Marquiste Ramos of Bayside High. Ramos is one of the six heading for Florida A&M, and he returned from his visit to the school full of enthusiasm.

  3. Naw.. he's straight on the hair.. that way he won't be "distracted" by the band during the game like Carter claims so MANY of his players are....

Maybe Ammons can convince Billy Joe to come back...and SAVE us...

You must of fell and bumped your head. We need to graduate student-athletes, not just use them and cast them aside for the sake of an on field victory. Had we gone after Hatcher, we'd have had both. Including a championship under our belt.

  5. Last time I checked BJ was a coach.... Our new AD and his staff are doing a FINE job ensuring our athletes matriculate.....

He hasn't been thee long enough to realize any of the above.

And have only 5 plays in your play book, and recruiting ready made Jr. college athletes does not a coach make you. FAMU ain't UF. If Jake had time to see that his boys graduated, then Joe could of. Carter's doing it! If you don't go to class you gotta go. So what's your point?

  7. The brother's hair may look "stoopid," as you claim, but the brother sure has a nice set of kissable, wonderfully shaped lips. Yowsa!

  8. I agree with 3:40 p.m. If only I was a wee bit younger! ;)

  9. Better leave those young boys to the young girls.

  11. Brotherman--for your information, everyone on this blog isn't old like you. As a matter of fact, I'm three years older? than the football player (if he's 18, that is). Speak for yourself, Mr. Elderly Man on a Cane and in a Rocking Chair When He's Not on the Cane. The football player is my sister's age.
