The Florida A&M Rattlers will open their quest for the 2007 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament Championship here Wednesday night against the Hampton University Pirates, at 10:00 p.m. at the RBC Center.

Here's a preview of this quarterfinal showdown:

THE MATCHUP: The #2-seeded Florida A&M Rattlers (18-13) opens 2007 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament against the #7 Pirates of Hampton University (15-15), a 76-61 winner over Howard University Tuesday.

THIS YEAR: Hampton swept both games from FAMU this season, 76-74 in Tallahassee, January 8 and 74-72 in overtime on February 5 at Hampton, Va.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: For the Rattlers, a win will vault them into the MEAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since they won the tournament in 2004.... It would also give Coach Mike Gillespie, Sr., the most wins in a season (19) during his tenure at FAMU.
