Castell called us a lie!

Our embattled, lame duck, interim president Castell Bryant this morning called Rattler Nation a lie! In a desperate attempt to curry favor with the BoG oversight board overseeing FAMU's finances, Mrs. Bryant told panel members that "other universities don't have to deal with websites like Rattler Nation putting out lies about the University."

No, Mrs. Bryant is not that we lie, its more like we catch you in yours! If you're going to tell it, tell the truth for once. The truth shall set you free!

We challenge you to meet us face-to-face, anytime anyplace to refute any lies that we may have spread. Bring your documents, we'll bring ours. Let's do this. I'll call your cell phone to set up the meeting. Or hit me via email: AnMRattler@yahoo.com

  2. So were those documents posted on RN fake as well?

  3. Dr. Bryant, exactly which items posted on Rattler Nation do you consider to be lies?

Perhaps you are referring to the posts that defend your administration?

  4. Thank goodness her reign is coming to an end. Her performances in front of the faculty are legend. Dr. Ammons came to the law school the other day and boy was he a breath of fresh air. He's the first president to actually understand that you can't treat law schools like a division of the college of arts and sciences. Don't drag your feet while riding on the wagon!

  9. Rattler Nation has done more harm than good. What other organization has its internal documents plastered all over the web? Just because we are a public institution does not mean our information should be plastered over the web for people who have never heard of FAMU to view and comment on. There is such a thing as confidentiality--whether you are public or not. EVERYTHING IS NOT FOR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE.

Did you read about FSU getting the funding for th E-School transferred before it made the news? I am sure there were all kinds of internal meetings and phone calls before it came out. However, the powers that be got their ducks in order and controlled when the information came forward.

Whoever is releasing documents to Rattler Nation should be fired. Just because you have access does not mean it is your responsibility to provide information to the media. Rattler Nation is part of the media, you know.

Every organization has the right to decide when and how to release information. That was evident this week at VA Tech. The university wanted and law enforcement wanted to control when and how information was released and rightfully so. When regular citizens get in the mix they can do more harm than good.

I bet most of us know more about FAMU than what is happening in our own households. How many of you monitor your bank accounts, your investment accounts, investigate your banking institution for impropriety? How many of us know this much about the companies we work for? How many of us are bold enough to type this stuff about our employers and our supervisors?

What most of you all do on this page has helped the negative perception of the university. If the alumni, students and employees are backbiting each other and telling the world who knows nothing about your university that it aint sh*&, what are people to think?

Students if you want to help the university go to class and excel in your classes (3.0 and above). Keep your dorm room cleans. Stop trashing the university! Stop hazing! Stop fighting and shooting at parties. Athletes and other students graduate!

Administrators, students and others stop stealing from the university.

Staff and faculty come to work on time and WORK the eight hours you are paid for. Learn how to use technology effectively. Teach us new and exciting things. Stop recycling old test because you are too lazy to create new ones. Be in your office for academic advisement and office hours. Stop trying to do personal business on university hours. Start doing some research and bring research dollars into the university so FAMU can truly become a RESEARCH INSTITUTION.

If you cannot do your job because the requirements have changed, retire!!! If you do not like your job, quit!!!! Students if you don't like FAMU leave!!!

Enough of the negativity and the need to continue to destroy our institution. Let's start talking about all the things we are going to do to rebuild the image of the university.

We can start today by saying only positive impressions and information on Rattler Nation. No more disrespecting people because we do not agree with their outlook or we do not like them. Let's be professional...

  10. There is such a thing as confidentiality--whether you are public or not. EVERYTHING IS NOT FOR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE.

Ah 11:59am, I'm not sure what state you live in but in the state of Florida, anything to do with state government at ALL levels is open for public access.

The Florida Supreme Court has determined that public records are all materials made or received by an agency in connection with official business which are used to perpetuate, communicate or formalize knowledge. They are not limited to traditional written documents. Tapes, photographs, films and sound recordings are also considered public records subject to inspection unless a statutory exemption exists.

And there is NO exemptions (attorney/client) involved here.

You hide public information, you suffer the consequences. And this Jeb Bush installed administration need to be put squarely in the bright "sunshine".

  13. 11:59, you have some worthwhile things to say, such as:

"Students if you want to help the university go to class and excel in your classes..."

"Administrators, students and others stop stealing from the university."

"Staff and faculty come to work on time.... Learn how to use technology effectively.... Be in your office for academic advisement and office hours. Stop trying to do personal business on university hours."

    Yes to that!

Your ideas on public records, however, need to be aligned with Florida's outstanding sunshine laws, which make all of FAMU's records public, except for a narrow range of personnel records.

Pointing to problems is not being negative. For decades, FAMU avoided discussing its problems by punishing anyone who brought them up. Luckily, the Tallahassee Democrat a few years ago started reporting FAMU news like any other news, and people for the first time began to see what is going on here.

As I recall, that coverage started when the Democrat hired a black managing editor.

  14. 11:59---While you're exhorting the flaws in a system of open government, you also are contributing to the dialogue in terms of the dirty laundry being aired. Many people may not view your mandates to do this, that and/or the other, as you have declared people at the university should do, but they may actually see your "suggestions" as engagements that students, administrators, faculty and staff members should take because these things are in fact not being done. It appears that you come here more often than you stay away. While you're exhaling on everyone else, you might also want to check your own membership in the club. I see no difference in what you're doing and what you've asked RN posters to do.

  15. While, I agree that there are some things which should not be shared publically. I think exposing the multitude of misdeeds under Cast-hell's regime has superceeded that.

Particularly, since she came in portrarying herself as some kind of Joan of Arc.

Believe me when I tell you've we've only shared about one tenth of the documents and dirt that we have come across.

  16. DaRattler would you agree to post a list of Castell's significant accomplishments while serving as interim, if one of her supporters would provide it? I have no knowledge of anything worthwhile that she has accomplished during her tenure.

I would really like to see "Castell raised $XXXXX, recruited XXX students or XXX faculty. Implemented an XXXX system which improved operations byXXXXXX. Increased student satisfaction, faculty satisfaction, alumni satisfaction." Please someone just provide a list of this administration's accomplishments

  17. How many of you monitor your bank accounts, your investment accounts, investigate your banking institution for impropriety?

If you don't, you are a sucker.

It may have been ugly to have all those documents exposed, but the university was suffering, and something had to give.

I'm grateful to Rattlernation. Just like Sharpton kept up the pressure until Imus was gone, we can countdown to the "Farewell for Castell." And none too soon.

  18. I'll paint the first "FAREWELL, CASTELL" poster.

  19. Rattlernation, don't let these people ruffle your feathers. I truly believe had YOU not come forth with the information you had, we still would have been in the dark, sitting on our hands as we continue to get screwed in the ass with no grease.

Please allow me to be the first to say Thank You. These people who are complaining about you haven't missed a day of logging onto your site.

And another thing, I'm glad the bitch is reading Rattlernation. Now she knows what we really think of her and her followers. 2 down 4 to go *blowing smoke to the screen*

And Anonymous 11:59a you obviously support Castell. Go take your meds.

Rattlernation one last thing, I know her cowardly ass won't set up any meetings with you but in the event she does, please broadcast it.

    You're the Best!

  20. 9:07--What is the point in using the derogatory language in your first passage? I mean, what sense does that make? You are so very stupid. Some of you people are obviously short on word skills and have not learned a darn thing about meaningful commentary, that as well as simply not knowing any better. 9:07, go wash your mouth out with soap.

  21. 9:07p, I understand what you're saying and the emotion behind it. This is not a blog for hard journalist. What counts is that the individual is allowed to express their views. Not whether their posts will impress, that's a bonus.
