Band camp winding up

This year's Marching 100 Summer Band Camp has attracted some 490 students to campus form all across the nation and as far away as Iraq.

Yesterday campers steped out in their annual band camp parade around the campus which was renamed in honor of Charles S. Bing. The parade brought hundreds of folks to the campus who got a chance to hear some great music and cheer the campers on.

The parade was led by President Ammons and wife who were in a Cadillac Escalade. They were followed by three Pontiac Solstice convertibles. One had the SGA president and VP, another had Mr. and Miss FAMU.

The Marching 100 high stepped in the parade, followed by the band campers who were split into two bands.

Today, the symphonic band campers will put on a concert at 10 am in Lee Hall and the Jazz Band campers will put on a concert today at 1 pm, also in Lee Hall. Tomorrow, the marching band camp will wind things at 10 a.m. with their BIG SHOW in Bragg Stadium.

  2. Would a student from the COL please contact me at 407-942-9490. As an incoming 1L I have some serious concerns about the school.

I am not interested in gossip, just the real deal on whether it is worth going or should I go elsewhere.

  3. It was great to see so many band campers! Maybe the band program will get it's due now that Cast-Hell and her issues with Dr. White are gone!

  5. Isn't the title of this thread, "BAND CAMP WINDING UP"?

    Proud FAMU Alumna '02

*clearing throat* now, I hate that I missed the summer band camp performances this year. I went last year for the first time and loved it. Those kids put forward such a tremendous effort. I hope many of them get the opportunity to come back to FAMU and march as a member of The 100?

Did the announce this year how many are coming back and how many are receiving scholarships?

Kudos to the band staffers and the kids!

  6. To 7/14/2007 4:48 PM:

There were over 200 students who are graduating in '07 and '08 in a meeting with various departments at FAMU during the camp. Some covered testing, others covered admissions, and there was a Q&A session afterwards, as well.

Keep in mind that a number of students coming up attended the previous camp and do not represent the complete number of students who will be trying out in August.

The campers from '06 received scholarships last year. That is probably the case with '07.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^

Is this really called for. This topic is about band camp not what happened with the band in the past. Let it go. We've all taken a towel from a hotel room at some point in time or another. I'm sure those kids learned their lesson and you need to move on from that.

Are you a Marching 100 Band reject or something?
