Five sent packing!

The Tallahassee Democrat confirmed what most of us already knew, that Elizabeth McBride, FAMU's general counsel; Eva Wanton, special assistant to the president; Vincent June, vice president of student affairs; Rufus Little, vice president for auditing/compliance; and Grace Ali, vice president of fiscal affairs and administration were given 60 day notice of termination of their contracts.

On her way out the door, interim president Castell Bryant had given top administrators new two year contracts, however the contracts included a clause that they could be terminated with 60 day notice.

  1. We have read with great anticipation those five, however it is hoped that Mr. Gaines will not be fooled by Miss June's remarks to save his friends jobs. Remember the following not only fired hard working employees, but also made it impossible for some to stay. Do us all a favor & pack your boxes no, actually we have been saving for a long time, just say the word, also we have pooled some funds together and will pay a moving van, if you all leave at the same time. Don't slither out over a weekend. MARCIA BOYD/ DANIELLE KENNEDY-LAMAR/MICHELLE LASSITER/MARILYN SMITH/BARBARA JONES/HENRYKIRBY/YARBOROUGH/BUDDY/ RUTH CAMPBELLto name a few.

Mr. Gaines before renewing any of the above contracts, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU TALK TO THE EMPLOYEES THEY SUPERVISE FOR THE TRUTH AND TRUE PICTURE.

  2. Mr. June's comments are about as phony as his masculinity! Particularly, after the way he acted upon learning of his dismisal. Can you say he threw a hissy fit??

    ReplyDelete
  3. What did he do when he found out about his dismissal? Do tell.

He/she is a character. Remember the lap dance he gave Janie Greenleaf for her/its birthday?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Why did Dr. Wanton stay up there and allow herself to be disgraced like that?

When will they give Vivian Hobbs her "marching orders?"

  5. As "FAMU" turns. I am convinced that FAMU is more of a Soap than a university. What is hilarious is that actual employees post on this board, sounding more like adolescents than professionals. No wonder the university has no academic reputation. My High School has a better reputation, recently scored an A, than FAMU.

Poster 10:18 AM, are you kidding me? For the past 5 years, we have lead the USA in black college graduates. Just recently, we were selected as the No. 1 College in America for Black Students. Our Journalism, SBI, Pharmacy, & Mock Trial students have run rings around students from all over the country. Get your head out of that pile of cow manure and read FACTS for a change. Here's hoping that you don't come near FAMU because your ignorance may be contagious. And besides, how do you know for sure that posters on this blog are FAMU employees or students? Any anonymous poster can CLAIM to be a FAMU employee, but they may be a phony like you.

SO FAMU IS A DIPLOMA MILL FOR BLACK STUDENTS. SO WHAT. SO IS FSU. THIS STAT DOES NOT SPEAK TO QUALITY - ONLY QUANTITY.

BASED ON WHAT? THE MAIN CRITERIA WAS THAT WE GRADUATED THE MOST BLACKS.

Our Journalism, SBI, Pharmacy, & Mock Trial students have run rings around students from all over the country.

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT FAMU IS THE #1 HBCU IN THE COUNTRY, BUT HOW DO WE FARE AGAINST OTHER STATE INSTITUTIONS?

CAN WE COMPETE WITH THE GATORS, DAWGS, TAR HEELS, OR OTHER STATE UNIVERSITIES?

WE NEED TO SET OUR SIGHTS HIGHER THAN BEING THE BEST OF THE HBCUS. THAT IS NO GREAT DISTINCTION.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Who in the hell said we are the best HBCU? I said the country. Is UGA, UF, UNC in this country?

In my mind, if you're the best HBCU, that means you are the best period.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 11:14. The programs identified as being among the best in the nation were recognized through national competition. There are no HBCU mock trials. I would ask you what undergraduate programs FSU and UF have that are nationally recognized? I seldom see either of those institutions mentioned when the nation's top colleges are counted.

  15. anon 9:56, Dr. Wanton was getting paid, according to the 7/4/07 Tallahassee Democrat, nearly $100,000. GirlfFriend was trying to rake up as much $$ as she could before she got her orders to sk-daddle. Apparently $$ trumped integrity.

    ___________________________________

Compete with other state Universities you say. Lets get somethings straight here this is a black school first and for most and that comes with certain obsticales. You asking us to compete with schools that have 10 times the funding and support (local and state) then we will ever have. We do damn well considering the obstacles that keep being put in our way by certain people. We can be better and there are somethings that can be done to make FAMU much better, but you're the one that needs to be real. It takes money and support to compete with those schools.

As far as the Soap Opera comment is concerned. Every place of business has is own drama. I interned with ARCO Oil in CA years ago and when we went to a board meeting they dicuss business for like 10 minutes and spent 30 minutes talking about each other girlfriends and weekends. If you look hard enough I'm sure you will find other Higher Ed talking about each other on some blog as well.

The problem is people like you are part of the problem at FAMU. You think most this stuff is something that just exist at FAMU and FAMU only. Well grow up and go work in some other places you find out different..

  17. And what about the witch in Student Activities, Junes personal hand picked she-friend - Mrs Buggs.

  18. FAMU is not the best in anything except for mismanaging funds. Remeber UF, FSU, and USF are the tier 1 schools in Florida.

FAMU can't even pay the bills let alone compete with any school in the state and that goes for community colleges as well.

    FAMU lacks academic respect.

FAMU is not the best HBCU. I believe Howard and Spellman beat y'all by a mile.

  19. It's interesting how so many haters of FAMU always seem to find their way to this blogspot.

If FAMU makes you so sick, then why waste your time with anything relating to FAMU? Many of you probably don't have a degree that was conferred upon you by anyone, let alone walked across anyone's stage and shuck any president's hand. Probably didn't even finish high school.

    Get a life...

  25. Dr (whatever) Eva Wanton should have been gone. Her position was purposeless!! Assist the president in doing what? It is evident that the president wasn’t doing much at all!!! It is time to get the family members (Dee-Dee) and friends out of there as well. These individuals are gainfully holding positions with-in the university but for some strange reason couldn’t get positions anywhere else (or at least keep them very long.) It just goes to show...its STILL who you know and NOT what you know. Especially when you can’t past the teaching certification test but you are an academic service advisor, please!! I guess the qualifications for that..... is just to be someone in authority's daughter, huh?
The UPSIDE is to get the university back on the right track!! So that means to get EVERYONE that obtain employement fraudulently..OUT!! Just to make room for the well qualified!!

  27. It is interesting that someone with no FAMU ties spends so much time on this site attempting to demean FAMU. Yet at the same time s/he has not produced any evidence that any of the schools he supports are nationally recognized. None of the rankings of top public universities mention the ones he puts forth. So I guess the only thing he places into evidence is his own opinion, which around these parts doesn't amount to much.

  28. Hey idiot, UF will have 30 million deficit because the money will not be in the budget. If you remember they are going to have to cut 5 percent this year at the Govenor's request.

FAMU spent 39 million and it is unaccounted for. Not to mention your books that could not even be balanced.

Gator Nation does not thieve like the crooks at FAMU. Y'all are robbing the taxpayer blind.

FAMU is a middle school at best compared to UF.

    ReplyDelete
  29. UF is not nationally recognized? Try the 13th best public school in the nation.

FAMU is not even listed in any category as a ranked school. FAMU is the worst institution in the state.

    Go Gators!!!!!!

  30. 11:52, I think we all know what the "correct term" is. I was being sarcastic when I termed it "sissy fit."

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2:02, if UF is 13th, that means that twelve other institutions in the nation are far superior than UF will ever hope to be. Look at the jump start UF had, and look at the past racism that the school enjoyed when it denied people of color entrance. Guess none of this matters, huh? You have no idea about anything. You're simply a simpleton, a first-class idiot. If you are a student there and if you are lucky to graduate, try going back there and getting a job, and see if you get hired. Then come back here and relay those experiences in denial of opportunity. Whatever they deny you probably won't even matter b/c you've got your head so far up those WF's posterior that folks can see the top of your head when someone yawns.

June why don't you start polishing off your resume. Don't worry about Mr. Gaines, not only does he have the energy, personality, knowledge-base, but something you never had --- integrity.

Honey child, I am still upset about our closed-door meeting. You just don't know how close you came to hollering up there in your old office. I told ya, God don't like ugly and you will reap what you sow.

In Dr. June's defense, it sounds like someone is venting about something they could tell him directly when he was there. Now, he's gone and probably doesn't give a shi_. Do you feel better? I hope so because had you got him wrong, I'm sure he would have gotten you together, Ms. Manning :-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dr. June's sissy ass should have never been in that position. He was too immature. He's a liar, he's manipulative, and he likes starting shit. And who ever made the comment about Mr. Gains lacking a knowledge base, nigga pleaze. That was the problem with June and his people, they believe that only they get it. If Vinnie and crew stumbled on someone who actually knew what there doing, and had the audacity to raise exceptions to Dr. June's dumb ass decisions, they got rid of them, and usually in some sort of sleazy, underhanded, deceitful way.

Too arrogant. He needed to go.

    PS
Maybe someone was venting, they have the right. When your job is on the line people are expected to act responsible and refraim from going off on the boss. However, refering to the in defense comments of 9:11, this is the sort attitude that Dr. June and his people had. It's this sort of "I bet you want say it to my face @itc!" that characterizes Dr. Junes leadership style.

Everyone know June was over the top. He needed to go. He's a young man and hopefully he has learned is lesson and hopefully he and his crew will become better administrators somewhere far the hell away from here.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Why is there a need to continuously try to expose and attack Dr. June based upon his sexual orientation? It is obvious that some of you have been trying to assassinate this guy’s character for no other reason than just being mean.

Anyone who has ever met him can determine he is an African American Gay Man, something is he is by no means ashamed of or has ever tried to conceal. So, what is the point of continuously name calling or pointing out that he is gay? Now, since we all know it…what next?

His sexuality is tossed around on this blog, as if it is something unique, strange, different, or in some way makes him less than, inferior, or incapable. For any of you who have ever had the opportunity to meet Dr. June, you would know this isn’t the case. His credentials speak for themselves even before his Vice-Presidency at FAMU. He has an MBA and a Ph.D. in Higher ED and has held several higher educational administrative positions. This makes him more than qualified for the position. If I recall, he has moved quickly through the ranks because of his leadership style.

His love for the students is beyond words. He has always earned and given them respect. This was the case at FAMU and at Florida Gulf Coast University. If you have any doubt, ask the students.

So, as you continue to unsuccessful try to demean this man (and yes, he is a man regardless of his sexuality), you will never be able to attack his educational foundation or his professionalism.

And, for all you wondering, “no” this isn’t Dr. June or anyone close to the past or present administration, but someone who respects the man behind the title.
