Walgreens drug store presented the FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (COPPS) with a gift of $250,000 for the College’s scholarship programs.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this donation,” said FAMU President James H. Ammons. “It will assist us in our effort to continue to recruit the best and brightest students to the pharmacy program. Increasing the number of scholarships for our students is one of my key priorities and I would like to thank Walgreens for supporting us in this area.”

“We are happy to support FAMU with this donation and we look forward to bringing new students into the pharmacy profession,” said Manuel Littlefield, pharmacy supervisor, Tallahassee, Fla.

More than 400 FAMU graduates are employed by the drug store chain.

  1. Walgreens could have done better!

I wonder if this will count toward the Tom Joyner School of the Month?

  4. WG could have done better!? What is your problem man?

Even if WG only gave $50.00, they should still be thanked for their generosity. They have no obligation to give us a dime. They owe us nothing. $250k is a nice gift.

It is the alumni (who enjoy their present success because of FAMU) that should be writing these kind of checks. Where is the alumni generosity and gratitude for what FAMU has done for them.

  7. Walgreens knows FAMU's pharmacy school has the state's best passage rate in the national licensure exam.

The company knows its investment in FAMU will pay off by many times that amount.

  15. 1:31, Please note that Walgreens didn't have to do ANYTHING. What have YOU given to the Pharmacy school? Dang. Sometimes I think folks just play devil's advocate to get a rise out of folks, but most times, I think folks like 1:31 simply want to complain about something, anything, whatever.
