Don't look now...

But we got Rattlers on Reality TV making damn fools of themselves and us!

This season's edition of VH-1's Flavor of Love 3 features a contestant who goes by the name of "Myammee (Miami)", who claims to be a 2006 graduate of FAMU. Myammee claims to have majored in public relations and minored in business management. She's competing for the affection of Flava Flav. The rub this year is he's looking for a woman of sophistication who can keep up with his high-profile lifestyle.

  1. Unfortunately, there is a lacking of community ideals, especially in the public. From timee to time it gets singled out and manupulated for coonery points(ratings).

  2. I wish she'd kept her claim about attending FAMU to herself.

  3. RN, don't speak for me. That girl's not making a fool of "us." She's making a fool of herself. She's not me.

  4. RN, don't speak for me. That girl's not making a fool of "us." She's making a fool of herself. She's not me. I don't know if you mean "us" as in a collective us, but whatever you mean, I still think the onus falls on her. By herself. Not as, collectively, singularly, or however. She's responsible for her own image.

  5. First we had the gay dude on The Real World a few years back rocking FAMU "hard". Now we have this woman acking a fool for Flava Flav. The coonery is alive and well in the media. They only want to portray blackfolk as coons and preachers, nothing more.

We probably need a whole host of positive cable stations with majority black ownership just to make a dent in the negative black images on TV and radio nowadays.

  6. As long as we continue the culture of decreasing our moral and value standards just to "eat and make it", this is the kind of public representation that we will have as African Americans in the media.

  7. I've actually had class with Angela Pitts, (that's her real name). She IS a FAMU grad and she DID graduate from the PR program, it's no "claim," it's a fact.

Never the less, it's still an embarrassment.

  12. Yes, I know Angela as well. She modeled with FACES Modeling Troupe...hmmm...and she also appeared in one of Juvenile's videos as well. I don't know why (as beautiful as she is) she feels she need to subject herself to this kins of publicity in order to get her claim to fame. But let's be real here (not that I am condoning such behavior) but, why must it only be pointed out as classless when it's us, when our caucasian counterparts are a lot more trifling than we are on these shows (JUST WATCH MTV, VHS, E!) and not to mention they have far more Reality TV shows than we do...HECK THEY STARTED IT! (Tila Tequila (well she's not causcasian, but she ain't black either) ROCK OF LOVE, Real World, Road Rules, Big Brother, Keeping up With the Kardashians and a host of others...watch any of these programs and you will see trifling and degrading.

  14. girFriend's just trying to make a move, the best way she knows how, at the moment. we sit and watch this crazy madness and then complain. if you hit the switch button on your remote, well, it won't solve a global problem/image, but you won't be part of the voyeurism deal that perpetuates this mess of a show.

You're absolutely right. At least home girl is educated and got her a degree.

  16. Britney, Paris, Lindsey, Angela... Embarrassments to their people and to their families.

  17. If she's on a show as degrading and ridiculous as this one, I certainly hope she keeps FAMU out of her mouth. Yes, she represents only herself. But I wouldn't want my alma mater mentioned in the same breath as the shenanigans on that show.

  18. There's alot of people (females no doubt) hating on here. Can yall start cackling AFTER she does something embarrassing and not before. They aired one show and yall acting like she disgraced the entire African American community. Get off yourselves. She has a degree and this show is something that SHE obviously wants to do.

Maybe im off, but it seems like alot of females are on here venting because of jealousy. Did she take yall men or something???? Do you wish guys looked at yall the way men look at her???? She's young and very attractive.....let her do her! Go head Ms. Pitts!

  19. I also had classes with Angela. She was a very outspoken and driven lady. She participated in a lot of class discussions and had a very likeable attitude.

I think that most people know that reality television is scripted and I really can't knock her for trying to jump start her career in the entertainment industry. I watched the first episode and I didn't see her get crazy in it.`

  20. Where she from MIAMI?

  21. No excuses. Get off the money train idiots. Concern doesn't mean hate, and WE ALL KNOW THAT OUR EXPERIENCE HERE IS COLLECTIVE. European thought makes us live in denial and keep US separated. We aren't ALL the same, but WE ARE- well WE! That's a responsibility that I hope passes on to others as it has been instilled in me and mine. Gratitude to my professors in the history, poly sci and psychology depts.

What?????? Hun????? I don't follow where you were trying to go....lol. Does anyone or is it just me...lol!

  23. Telling the truth isnt "hate." Its the purest form of love. We worship God in spirit and TRUTH. We should tell the TRUTH to each other. To do otherwise would be hateful. When someone is acting out or acting like a whore, they should be told. Its not hate to call something what it is.

  24. There no such thing as bad publicity... Brittney, Paris, etc.. but yet they still making money, more fans, and more well known. Face it folks in this country (even world) controversy rules supreme.

So when did this girl act like a whore again????? I say you are hating when you're downing a girl just for being on a show who hasn't done ANYTHING yet except say where she was from. The TRUTH is you're more than likely jealous because most guys find her very attractive. You assume she will be a whore because she is on the show, but even that is carazy to think. Most of the Flavor of Love girls didn't act like whores. Off the top of my head, it seems only New York did. She's the only one who really showed her ass (literally) all the time.

To wrap it up, throwing around the word "whore" is what you women do to belittle one another. It's the reason many African American women aren't as unifed as African American men. If the girl is cute and guys like her, then she's a whore. Get a grip and some self esteem while you're at it, and stop tearing down others just because you can.

  26. i say let that girl do whatever she's going to do on that minstrel show. and let us move on. good grief. an entire board carryin' on about something that no one here can do anything about. on a show that no one cares two flips about. nobody's hatin' anyone and nobody's jealous of this girl. i'm sure her mama sees her, so let her mama deal with it. are we this desperate for something to gripe about that we just won't leave this thing along. My God.

  27. all that education, and right now her occupation is a Hooter's Waitress, according to the show's website. According to her profile, at least her "32DDD boobs are natural". Nice.

  28. Looking at this young lady makes me want to put a big clock around my neck. lol.

  29. Well, I'm not sure what to say about this so I'm just going to wish her well in all future endeavors.

  31. If only every FAMU girl could be this sexy!!!!!!! Do ya thing girl!

  32. In lieu of this lackluster, gossip fueled site berating her, can we all watch the show and formulate opinions on the basis thereof? Or better yet, Why not contact Angie, Fall 2006 FAMU graduate (not a claim as NU RATTLER stated) herself for an interview? Or would we rather just hate shamelessly on here using the guise of the internet to hide our cowardice? How many people think the University Foundation would turn down her any future Alum donation based on her show appearance? (DOUBT THAT) Ang' has yet to do anything to cause herself, her family, or the FAMU community any ill publicity and I stand by her 1887%

Don't worry, we all knew that the haters would prejudge and hate regardless and form their opinions after only one show. That's what being cute gets you. It always seems to make the cows unhappy. Maybe it's not just their appearance that's ugly, but their attitudes as well. And remember, to all those people that think the show is foolish, it's funny how you all sure know a whole lot about it......LOL!!!!!!

  35. I don't have to watch each episode of Jerry Springer to know that the show was a hot ghetto mess. Since when has Flavor of Love been a thought provoking, positive, and life-changing show? I've seen 2 episodes on previous seasons; I recognize coonery when I see it. I don't blame Angela, I blame Viacom for refusing to present a more diverse view of African-Americans. I am tired of the coon and "hoe" depictions.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ^^^^^

But you watch though.....LMAO!!!!!!!! Here's the secret....if you stop watching the "coonery" then the ratings won't support keeping different shows.

  37. Yes, Angela Pitts is a FAMU J-school grad, and while, most of us aren't thrilled she's on the show, what can you really say that she has done that has been so bad? Yes the girl is on the show, but she also has her degree. Brains and beauty. That's a hell of a lot more than some people that go to this university can say.

  38. 7:34 AM ,If you don't have a Neilsen's box tv executives don't know what you are watching. So me deciding not to watch or to watch is causing this show to stay on the air or be cancelled. I'm not filling out surveys and leading rallies to keep this mess on. But to be honest, who can't help but watch a train wreck when you happen across one (in my case twice and not even complete episodes):)

  39. Wow, how unfortunate is it that the first thing we as a people aim to do is dis(courage/enfranchise) one of our own. I remember Angela and she was very much into her modeling and she dressed nicely everytime I saw her. This show of course is only a publicity shot and hopefully it leads to bigger and better roles for her. Hell, even Flava is using this show to try to revive a career that passed long ago. FAMUans we are family and as an FSU graduate as well its ok to sometimes have interfamily arguments, but let's not continue to try to judge Angie in a public fashion. We FAMUans have plenty to be proud of just look at Alfred Thomas who has played in several movies including Step Up 2, Kevin Hicks who won a national track race a couple of years ago, and the countless other Rattlers who are proving everyday that FAMU is as strong today as it was yesterday and will be forever. God Bless

    Bobby
