The sixth-seeded Rattlers (15-16) saw a 10-point halftime lead trimmed to one midway through the second half before finally pulling away from the 11th-seeded Hawks 70-61 in the MEAC Basketball Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.
FAMU, the defending MEAC champions, took its first step toward repeating as conference champs by beating in the first round of the MEAC tourney.
Lamar Twitty (pictured) scored a team-high 19 points and Leslie Robinson and Akini Akini each added 13 to lead Florida A&M to a 70-61 win over Maryland Eastern Shore in the first round of the MEAC men’s basketball tournament at the RBC Center.
The Rattlers advance to the quarterfinal round against Norfolk State, the Number 3 seed on today at 6 pm. You can watch the live video webcast of all the action here: MEAC Tourney Webcast
Congrats Rattlers. I hope we bring home the championship again.
ReplyDeleteWho gives a darn about a MEAC anything this is 2008 and this new coach like the last coach should have his eyes set on winning a NCAA Campionship! No one respects the MEAC and I can see why most schools in the MEAC think that if they win it then hey there fan base will be happy and while it is sad it is true, but FAMU has never really been like that in any other arena. We have always wanted to be the BEST EVERYTHING not the best black school etc....So okay I hope that we can win the MEAC only as a means to getting into the big dance and then we win there!
ReplyDeleteUm... most schools are fired up about getting to the dance. Just watch the selection show Sunday and see for yourself.
