Rattlers' rally not good enough

Behind 20-0 at halftime, the FAMU Rattler came fighting back in the third quarter with two quick scores to pull within six points of the Bulldogs. The Rattler then score again to pull head 21-20, for a short while, before SC State scored on 44-yard run to go ahead 28-21. SC State was able to hold that lead as neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

The Rattler faithful of 12,462 stayed until the final minutes of the game as FAMU went down in defeat.

In the end, FAMU might have lost more than just a ballgame. Defending MEAC champion Delaware State lost 17-14 to Hampton and instead of three teams racing for the conference title, the Bulldogs are now all alone at the top.

Turnovers
FAMU had five fumble and lost three to SC State's one, and gave up 193 yards on the ground to the Bulldogs.

On the bright side, FAMU passed for 252 yards, to SC State's 171 yards.

  2. The Rattlers played sloppy and undisciplined football in the first half. They turned it around in the second half, but it was too late. I guess the MEAC title will have to wait until next year.

  3. I don't totally agree 8:10p The defense was just on the field way too long and the Offense couldn't find a way to let Phillip Sylvester loose.

I like Pulley though. We will be ok!!!!

  4. Saturday's game was great despite the loss. It showed that we are alive and kicking still.Instead of knocking the team down, build them up! The coaches and players still deserve hand claps for doing a great job. No, I do not play any sports But I love FAMU, Dr.Ammons and the Taylor Era.We as FAMU RATTLERS are fit for the fight and blessed for the battle.

  5. I was disappointed but proud of the Rattlers . However, the HC made a terrible decision to kick a field goal with only a few minutes left on the game clock. It was 4th and a yard. Please QB sneak!!! A field goal would have accomplished nothing. A TD would have still been needed for victory. A Very Bad Decision! We had our chances.

  6. 6:48 PM, I totally agree with you. I do not know what Coach Taylor was thinking by going for a FG on 4th down deep in SC's territory. That made absolutely no sense to me and I began to question Coach Taylor's coaching ability.
