OT: The hat

Aretha Franklin's hat, has caused quite an up roar in the internet world as every one is it popping up everywhere with one on it seems. The hat custom made by Luke Song of Song Millinery (Detroit) is hand-molded and finished off with a Swarovski rhinestone-bordered bow. If sold on the open market that hat would cost upwards of $500 said Song.
Song said he wasn't prepared for the hundreds of calls requesting the hat, which has created a sort of economic boom for his business. The demand has forced the 36-year-old designer to offer customers a satin ribbon version for $179.
The family run millinery has been in Detroit for about 25 years, and Franklin has been a customer for about 20 of those years.
An entire flicker group has been created with photoshopped images of folks with "The Hat". Click here to see it.

You know what Rattler Nation, please respect President Barack Obama along with Tupac! What you did was disgusting and definitely not amusing! Please remove from your site!
ReplyDeleteActually, I laughed for a good five minutes. As a matter of fact it was the best laugh I've had all day. It's not disrespectful to Mr. Obama nor is it a slight to the late Tupac to have a little humor now and then.
ReplyDeleteDiddo 9:24pm. I think President Obama would've had a nice laugh from the picture as well.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it, very seriously. Perhaps you are right Rattler Nation -- laughing it off may be a sign of "real" maturity and wiping off ignorant folks that gives other haters to continue to be disrespectful. Never seen such disrespect towards Bush or Biggie on this site.... GROW UP! I guess you make your parents proud. Perhaps that is where you learned it from....Sorry to see that you enjoy making fun of others to make yourself feel good. Thanks for setting the tone on RN. Please post a pic of yourself and lets get a good laugh. May God have mercy on your soul....
ReplyDelete6:07AM, that was out of line. Just because you think someone else is being disrespectful doesn't mean you should to take it to the next level.
ReplyDeleteMay god have mercy on that hat! Fact is, it's laughable that she had the audacity get up there with it on like this was first Sunday at the Potters House. An just as funny to see it photo shopped on influential figures in the black community. It creates a sort of light hearted irony that you cant escape. Sorry, but don't take yourselves too seriously.
ReplyDeletehey. y'all just need to chill for a minute. that's all. good grief. ain' nobody dissing nobody.it's just a damn hat superimposed. some of y'all just want to be starintin' some unnecessary mess up in here.
ReplyDeleteI see there are alot of black self hate on this site. First, against each other and towards the man in the highest office. This is why White folks can say or do whatever to us openly! Why do we continue to pave the way of negativity towards each other. Grabs (Monkeys) in the Barrel pulling each other down...
ReplyDelete12:38pm you are out of line for taking sides. Stop rewarding bad behavior.
Where is our ability to laugh? Did anyone click on the link and see the many different peep this hat has been photoshopped on --- the Mona Lisa, the Queen of England, Hillary Clinton, and many others.
ReplyDeleteIt's all in fun.
I agree with 9:05 / 6:07 / 8:11 Respect President Barack Obama! Humor is one thing but, not at someone else's expense! Start with yourself first and we can all enjoy a good laugh.
ReplyDeletePastor Winthrop
I loved the "JEMIMA" photo -- A REAL depiction of the SISTERS. Now that's funny!!!
ReplyDeleteDat was a really ugly hat.. and for $500? DAAAAAAMN
ReplyDelete8:11PM, this is 12:38PM. My comment was a general comment that does not (and was not) geared to take sides. If you're going to promote not taking sides, then I would suggest you not take the tone yourself. Honestly, I don't see or understand how the comment I made "... reward[s] bad behavior." Think about it.
