The FAMU Board of Trustees just held officer elections. Bill Jennings was reelected to another two-year term as board chairman. Daryl Parks replaced R.B. Holmes, Jr. as vice-chairman.
Robert Brown announced that he won’t seek reappointment to the board when his term expires.
The board also passed a resolution congratulating the FAMU College on Law for securing full accreditation from the American Bar Association.
President James Ammons introduced Walter McCoy and Darlene Moore as the new coaches of the men's and women's track teams, respectively.
Ammons also received highly favorable comments in his annual evaluation.

The hiring of Walter McCoy is downright pathetic. Bill Hayes must be removed as FAMU's AD, IMMEDIATELY!!
ReplyDeleteI do not know much about either of the two new hires but as a rattler I must give them a chance. What is the History of these coaches, please inform.
ReplyDeleteThis was a shame! Ammons gave his Presidents "Report" and it made no mention of the 200 students without housing!!!!! This was shameful to say the least, but what was an even greater shame was when the Board had a chance to question Ammons. They did not, instead they praised Ammons for bringing back some dagum concert series to campus!
ReplyDeleteThis is why HBCU's will fail, if they do indeed fail, not because of the white man or any other man except the Black man, but because we have our heads in the sand.
I do not believe it was appropriate for Dr. Ammons to mention the 200 students that are on a dorm waiting list. What is appropriate though, is for him to mention the critical need for improved housing at FAMU. Failure is not an option for FAMU. WE will not let FAMU fail. I think Dr. Ammons has done some really great things for FAMU, but I agree with Mr. Badger that he needs to delegate some of his work so that he doesn't work himself to death.
ReplyDeleteBack to the subject. Walter McCoy was fired by BCC, Gadsden County, and Leon High School. Why in the hell would FAMU hire him? Something smells mighty fishy about this decision.
BILL HAYES MUST GO!!!
If students paid their bills, maybe we could have some decent campus housing.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta go deeper than that to be talkin' about solving the issues at hand 10:51 and 9:25. Duly noted.
ReplyDeleteOur "Board" provides ZERO oversight for the university, therefore I believe them actually holding meetings is pointless.
ReplyDeleteThey give hardly NO money to the school, they hardly help fundraise, all they care about is the "celebrity" of being a trustee member and getting everything from FAMU for free.
