FAMU’s former student body vice-president is heading off to one of the nation’s top law schools.
Mellori Evonn Lumpkin recently graduated with summa cum laude honors from FAMU, earning her B.S. in business administration. She will continue her education by pursuing a J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley Law School this fall.
In FAMU’s Student Government Association, Lumpkin served as a student senator, student senate president, and finally vice-president in the administration of former Student Body President Andrew Collins. She also worked at the state capitol as a 2008 Florida Gubernatorial Fellow and analyst for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
Lumpkin, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, came to FAMU in 2005 from Bainbridge (Ga.) High School, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was also a National Achievement Scholar.

Congratulations, Mellori!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and best of luck to an outstanding young lady.
ReplyDeleteCongrats....but she must know one of the bloggers or something.
ReplyDeletePlenty of Rattlers doing big things in the FAMU & Ivy grad schools as well as the corporate world. Those folks need to be highlighted more for recruitment purposes.

ReplyDeleteThe email address is clearly displayed. If you want to share info on folks you know .... send it. We're not mind readers here. : )
We wish you well Mellori!
ReplyDeleteFAMU has produced some very outstanding students. Mellori is very impressive and I understand she's a very nice young lady. I also had the opportunity to meet former SGA President Monique Gillum. In my opinion, Monique is going to be a senator, governor, or President of the US one day. Omari Crawford is another outstanding FAMU grad. Here's a young man that was able to manage 4 years of running track, was an Associate Supreme Court Justice of SGA, Mr. FAMU, graduated with a BS Degree (3.50 GPA) in 4 years, graduated from FAMU with a Masters last week.
ReplyDeleteLeah White, Jason Little, etc., etc.
I'm proud of all of our students. Mellori deserves all of these accolades because of her achievements and because she means so much to FAMU.
Mellori is obviously smart as a whip. Plus the fact that she is a very nice young lady is wonderful also. She's pretty as heck, too, and, as Richard Pror used to say, she's pretty, coal-black. And she has a good looking set of sparkling ivories. She's got everything going for her. We'll obviously be reading about this young FAMUan in the future, and we will all look back and say that we knew she was going to do big things. Props to her.
ReplyDeleteI concur with all bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThis young lady is quite impressive and extremely humble and mannerable. I only know her from a distance but I'd support anything she does. KUDOS to her PARENTS and to the wonderful faculty that help facilitate her learning at FAMU!!
I wonder if the university (in totality) served her well enough to become an ACTIVE member of the FAMU National Alumni Association. I hope those vibing for national office are engaging young people like Mellori to help build the future of a very troubled organization.
Congrats! Like one other guy said, if you slapped up an article for every FAMU student or alum accepted to a top 10 level graduate program, you would have more posts than TMZ. Add to that the students getting professional accred and major promotions, and you'll give CNN a run for their money.
ReplyDeleteWe're like the aliens in that old movie "They Live". We're everywhere, infiltrating every level of industry and government.
I don't know the young lady but as a rattler I am proud. Good luck and study hard. If you want to come home, know that the FAMU COL is up and running. Enjoy law school!!!
