Are we sending the crooked line or straight line version?

  4. Honda must be on crack ! This is one time that the 100rd should do the right thing and decline the invitation.

  5. The 100 is the BEST Marching Band in the world. Why in the world would they decline an invitation to the Honda Battle of The Bands? Lets be clear here; I've never played in the band, but I think it is quite an honor to be invited and FAMU did the right thing by accepting it.

"I woke up this morning with my mind on marching, dead on marching. Rattlers march, Rattlers march, Rattlers marchhhhhhhhhhhhh".

  7. 10:13 a.m,

You can't be serious about "Best Marching" band !!!

Now, I'll give you that the 100rd is the best college band, in terms of their music, and sometimes their sound. But Marching wise this just wasn't their year.

Folk were marching in the wrong direction nearly every game, lines crooked as all get out, and drum majors late for homecoming halftime show.

    I could go on.

  8. 9:44am,

LOL I hope they send the ATL Classic version of the Marching 100. As for turning down the invitation, that's not even an option for the band. You know it's not everyday that $20,000 just falls into your lap. Whether they earned it or got the luck of the draw, I have faith that the Marching 100 will represent FAMU and the MEAC very well. Actually the 100 was the only MEAC band invited. No BCU. No Norfolk State. No SCSU. Wow that speaks volumes to how the general populus, peer college band directors, and peer college presidents perceive the Marching 100 despite their tumultuous 2009 season. Ironically, Southern University, the same band that the RN compared the 100 to in its first 2009 "What's wrong with the 100?" expose, will also be at the Honda. Honda 2010 really might be the Super Bowl of band battles. GO FAMU!!!!

  9. I just hope the 100rd has their "A" game for the Classic !!! Cause last week the idiot 100rd wore green sweat suits to the game, and cymbal player marched 5 yards in the wrong direction ala the earlier trombone player at SCSU.

  10. I think they should decline this offer. The 2010 Marching 100 is awful. They are the worst I have EVER seen.

  11. It is amazing at some of the negative comments about the 100.....
@5:17 - The reason why the band wore sweatsuits for the A&T game was in tribute to Russell Athletics, who created and DONATED the sweatsuits to the band. Besides, FAMU is not the only band to perform with sweatsuits instead of their band uniforms. By the way, what have YOU donated to the band as of late besides criticism?!?!?

@7:21 - This year's Marching 100 is not the absolute worst band. Yes,things can happen to the best, but rest assure, the best ALWAYS bounce back. If they were the worst, how come they not only receive the Honda invitation, but they also had the most number of popular votes(along with Southern)? If the Marching 100 was so bad this year, how come they are still receiving invitations for future performances from across the land and abroad? The public, professional organizations, hell even President Obama knows a good band when they see it!

By the way, I thought this thread was about congratulating the band for the Honda invite, not bashing the 100.....

  12. 10:01 am,

The Russell Athletics tribute was completely lost on all of us there. At the Howard game, the band wore jeans and rain coats. The 100rd has just been completely random this year in sound, quality and performance.

You never know what you're going get.

  13. 10:01 AM, thank you for those comments. I'm the one that said the 100 is the best band in the world. I still believe that and no one can convince me otherwise. We deserve to participate in the Honda Event and without us, it wouldn't be the same. The Marching 100 is the standard that every band in America shoots for, but hasn't figured out how to reach it. In my opinion, there are 3 Levels of Bands. FAMU stands alone on Level 1, Level 2 is blank, then all of the other bands are on Level 3. This is not debatable, but fact.

FAMU's Marching 100 is the best band in the world.

  14. @12:12 - I think you are really reaching a bit. The more I read your comments, the more I laugh at you. Thanks for the comic relief!

Did you not see the band spell out R-U-S-S-E-L-L on the field?!?!? If not, please see your opthamologist ASAP.

BTW..Are you sure you didn't attend a mockery of a university in a little town called Daytona?!?!?

  15. @1:46: When did the band spell "RUSSELL" on the field? Pre game?

  16. lmao@ One striking Rattler...I hope Dr.White has shaken the tree before they get to Orlando.

  17. Dr. White should have shaken the tree prior to Sept. 1 !!!

  18. 7:11 - yes, during pre-game.

  19. I love The 100 dearly but they haven't made me proud this year. I pray they are in Orlando to foot in da azz of a Wildcat this weekend.
