The FAMU Marching “100” has been selected to perform in the Super Bowl XLIV pregame show scheduled for Sunday, February 7, at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
This is the third time in five years that the Marching “100” has been invited to participated in a Super Bowl.
According to Julian White, director of bands and chair of FAMU’s Department of Music, he received a telephone call from the entertainment director for the National Football League notifying him that the “100” had been selected.
“We are extremely honored and proud to be selected by the National Football League to perform during the pregame show,” said White. “To be invited for a third time in only five years is confirmation that we give a quality performance.”
When asked what will the “100” perform to dazzle the audience, White quickly responded by saying they will salute the King of Pop.
“We will do another production to honor Michael Jackson,” said White. “It is only fitting that we salute the King of Pop for the world to see.”
The “100” performed in four previous Super Bowls:
1969
Super Bowl III
Half time performance in Miami, Fla.
1983
Super Bowl XVII
Half time performance in Tampa, Fla.
2005
Super Bowl XXXIX
Pregame performance in Jacksonville, Fla.
2007
Super Bowl XLI
Half time performance with Prince in Miami, Fla.
Let's make sure we send the straight line version!
ReplyDeleteHubba Hundred. We expect the best. Now go sit. hater
ReplyDeleteIt's not a Florida Super Bowl without the 100!
ReplyDelete3:04 - What's love without hate, eh? Worried about straight lines, go out there and help make one.
ReplyDeleteStupid.
5:52,
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't a hater. That was a supporter.
Them lines and the marching were seriously off this year and have been well documented.
I"m no hater, but I was embarrassed in Dawson Stadium (marching the wrong way) and in Bragg (no DMs to start the show?!?)
ReplyDeleteI have seen this 100rd, they can be absolutely horrid or magnificent. So again, my request for the straight line version.
3:04. To my critics.......did you see the Orangeburg show?!? If not you might want to refrain from criticizing RATTLERS who sat thru that embarrassment.
Just go on and call FAMU the Official Marching of Florida Superbowls. Fantastic. I wonder if they're going to have them play with "The Who"
ReplyDeleteNo the 100 will be performing pre game.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're really not a supporter if you embarrass so easily. You have no idea what a horrible band looks like. People like you ,wether you know it, hlp to damage the band. Get your sorry high school and middle school directors to teach somethin'. Perhaps hiring more FAMU graduates instead of letting all of the other states hire them up. It's not that different from sports programs when it comes to recruiting and such. Once again, if you have no working knowledge of marching bands, please refer to someone or those who do. It's hard to be at the top.
ReplyDeleteCall a spade a spade, the band was horrible this year. I truly hope they let Micheal Jackson rest in peace and not do that show again. Why would they just run that show into the ground? I watched it on tv when it was performed in ATL and it was excellent. I saw the same show in Orangeburg and it was awful.
ReplyDeleteIf Rattlers can't criticize Rattlers, when who can?
I love the 100rd just as much as the next person but can comfortably call them out when the time is right.
Anywho, congrats 100rd!
Dr. White has already stated in an article that the band will be performing the same Michael Jackson tribute show from all season long. Sorry to those who wanted something new. If you dont like it, then you dont have to watch. Just close your eyes. See how easy that is???
ReplyDeleteWe know what a horrible band is, it was this year's version of the 100rd!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope we bring back more than the $3,000.00 we got the last time we went down there. In these times the deal needs to be financially beneficial to the University.
ReplyDelete12:14 If your Lexus was leaking oil, you would think the person who told you about it jealous, right?
ReplyDeleteI heard the MF Tribute is a special request from the National Football League Entertainment Committee.
ReplyDeleteI hope Dr. White doesn't bring MJ back this Fall. I won't be able to stand it.
