no home games until October. And we have Sav State instead of Southern or an FCS power. Unless we win out, I think we will be watching the playoffs from home.
No one should complain about playing Savannah State until we know all of the facts. I'm sure that we would have played Southern if it could have been worked out. We're playing Savannah State because there were scheduling conflicts with everyone else.
If we win the conference, then we go to the playoffs. Lets win our conference and everything else will take care of itself.
Stop complaining so much and support our Rattlers.
I agree with the first poster. FAMU needs to add tougher non-conference opponents to the schedule. Southern isn't the only other FCS/I-AA power that FAMU can play. Savannah State is horrible. The Rattlers will probably be up by 35 at halftime.
If FAMU goes 9-2 with losses to UM and SCSU, there is a strong possibility the Rattlers won't be selected as at-large participants in the playoffs. HBCUs don't get respect from the selection committee. If they did, App. St. would have visited SCSU last year instead of the reverse.
A person can support the program and still be critical of it. We went 9-3 and 8-3 these past two seasons but didn't receive an invite because of our perceived weak schedule. Our 1st and 2nd place teams should be invited but won't because of weak scheduling--weak teams in the conference.
Can we see Chattanooga with our current coach? I am not so sure. Also, I would have loved to see Southern on our schedule. I think we should be bringing schools to Bragg that can help us pack it.
A 9-2 team with Sav State on the schedule still has a chance to make the playoffs with the new 2010 playoff system (addition of 2 teams and byes for top seeded teams). But, win the conference, you don't have to worry about it.
If we had defeated Morgan St (08) and Hampton (09) like we were supposed to in those years, then we would've earned an invite to the playoffs even with a weak schedule. That's why we didnt get in. A weak schedule only exacerbated the situation. We have to take care of business on the field each and every Saturday. That means stop looking ahead and play each opponent as if the MEAC title is on the line every play! Our target should be winning the conference so there will be no doubt about our place in the playoffs.
8:10 and that's the way it should be. Until we beat the mangy pups from O'burg should wear blue and garnet while watching the playoffs in the comfort of our own homes.
