FAMU appoints new director of recruitment

FAMU recently named Renee Washington as its newest director of recruitment.

Washington, a FAMU alumna, said it feels good to be back home.

“I am so excited,” said Washington. “I love FAMU and I have always been loyal to this university. I feel it’s the best historically black college or university any student should want to attend.”

Washington is a three-time FAMU graduate. She received her bachelor’s in management and marketing in 1983; a master’s degree in applied social sciences in 1988; and a master's of education in 1994.

She has held the position as director of freshmen year experience program in the FAMU School of General Studies and as the registrar of the FAMU College of Law from 2002-2007. From 2007-2009, Washington was the faculty counselor for Hillsborough Community College: Ybor City Campus.

Washington says her wealth of experience, enthusiasm and knowledge from her previous positions will help her better serve in the current position.

“I plan to have a wider territory—going to more high schools,” Washington said of her plans. “I also want to initiate the Just One Project, where alumni and employees recruit one student to attend FAMU per year. It’s not difficult or time consuming. It will help with retention and accountability. We are out there getting the best and the brightest. It is not about I, it’s about us.”

  1. Question:

How do you go from a registrar to a faculty counselor at a low tier community college to FAMU's director of recruitment?

    Really FAMU?

    ReplyDelete
  2. What is low tier community college. You go sit. Perhaps that gives her the perspective of someone who's worked in the community college arena.

    ReplyDelete
  3. You used the word how, so I gather that you want to understand, not criticize.

  4. I do not agree with this appointment, but what’s done is done. Let’s just pray that she is qualified and have fresh ideas to pull FAMU with the big, bad sleeping DINOSAUR buddy system over the 21st Century threshold…FAMU still has lot to learn and a very loooong ways to go! We're in the cyber age and we need to play catch up...big time!

  5. Having just met her, I think she'd do well in this position. She certainly has a lot of energy and insights and is a talker.

  6. I Smell a Fat Rat...Speaking of appointments...the office of student activities SORRY director Saundra Inge was suppose to drop in november 2010 but sources at the university tell us that she's off for 30 days (the month of may) so that she can return to apply for the Director's position in student activities...Can You Say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...Stay HOME Inge...Yes you spend several hours in your office but you dont get NOTHING DONE and you BLOCK EVERYONE ELSE FROM DOING! You think you're SLICK...We are All checking daily to see when THE STUDENT ACTIVITIES POSITION WILL BE ADVERTISED IN PERSONNEL...RATTLER NATION....the students are hurting and they need NEW Life and a director with some VISION!!!! CALL OSA @ 599-3400 AND CHECK THIS OUT

  7. ^^^^^^^^WOW^^^^^^^^^ Im about to call her office now

  8. One striking RATTLER5/04/2010 4:17 PM

I have known Renee Washington for over thirty years and feel qualified to say "God Help Us!"

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yes we all know that Ms Inge needs to stay home but this bashing her like this on RN is not necessary. She is a good person and she really means well. But she really does need to STAY HOME. No need to call OSA, you need to call her supervisor. That's who's keeping her here.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 2:59...You have got to be kidding! Say it ain't so...Mrs. Inge has been "a thorn" in our sides for far too long. You are absolutely right...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I will be calling that office and I will dang sure make sure the students call SGA, the FAMUAN and the President's office to do something about this. She is A MAJOR HINDRANCE IN THAT OFFICE and in progression of the student's activity. She can barely get around to even make real progress. She is never available and she doesn't answer any calls. She's a micro-manager! There are a few student sidekicks that she gets to answer her calls just for them to tell us she's not available and Felicia Barnes is her other sidekick from hell that executes the dirty work. The students are constantly complaining about the both of them! Neither one of them are student-friendly or approachable and can you say out-of-touch with the students--just like the majority of the campus administrators, faculty and staff. The process to fill out a frickin' facilty request form is STUPID and painful--such a hassle! In fact, they need to put Mrs. Jefferson back over facilities and whatever she else she was over. That's when things ran smoothly! Mrs. Inge has no regard for time. She double books events. She nor Ms. Barnes relate to the students at all! When you go to visit other schools, their student union facilities are for the students...no paying for bldg usage and having their events blocked for STUPID ish! Students you have a voice and are the reason why the university employees are working. Other schools wouldn't stand for this nonsense. Can't even believe Dean Kirby would allow this...he's gotta know it's time for her to go...FOR REAL! Bring back Col. Joe!

  11. These comments are very comical in nature. We go from speaking about the appointment of someone to OSA. I love it when only a few know this type of information and it shows up on here. I can see right through you... Mrs. Inge will be here as long as she wants, and if your not careful, she would be in a good positon to see that you leave before her. Times are hard... Jobs are scarce ;)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes, how did we get on these other topics. I just hope we got the best person for the job. 11:17 PM before jumping the gun...I am an Alumnus and the Rattler Network surely travels beyond Tallahassee. This news came about this weekend. In other words, nothing is really a secret on that campus. Let's move on please!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Message from 4:45 to 11:17 I don't know who you're referring to, but as an Alumnus that has handled business with OSA in the past and to see the drastic change in the process now is an absolute disappointment. You don't need to work on campus or in that office specifically to know that! I have experienced first-hand and the experiences in the past were far better and more progressive. FAMU needs progression not depression! Forward ever...backwards never!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow, what's really going on...this is not the forum for this...well actually it is but we need positive reactions and comments with substance that works toward the betterment/progression of our Alma Mater...let's do better people.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow....you get moved out of your position in Orlando for ineptitude and then hired back years later in Tallahassee as a Director. WOW!!!!!

Mark these words......the DINOSAUR that is Renee Washington will not have a new idea to save her life! Any new methods of recruitment will NOT be traced back to her, but she will be sure to take credit for them anyway.

FAMU is officially welfare for the FAMU Alumni Association. You have to ask yourself.....what kind of students does FAMU want and need? Shouldn't the person that can deliver us these types of students at the very least be able to relate to them?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am deeply disappointed in James Ammons for this hire. This makes absolutely no sense.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This new hire just PROVES that you can get away with ANYTHING as long as the buddy system goes on and you can still be employed by FAMU. There was a good reason why she was "removed" from the law school.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My problem isn't with who or what is hired. I would support the President because he knows who and what he is working with, it is his call. Please believe that at some point all will be held accountable and if they are not doing what they were hired to do, please show them the door, Rattler or not.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree with the majority. Renee has floated around this campus for years because of her dad and now outgoing VP Gaines and ASVP Boyd has decided to bring her back. It has not been on her own merit as she has done nothing which warrented this appointment. I guess VP Gaines can say he kept his promise to his mentor, her dad.

What bothers me most as an active alumni member is that she was certainly not the most qualified. In addition, I have known of her escapades and although she may have the "gift of gab", her commitment to FAMU is as shallow as a kiddie pool. I am not only disappointed in Gaines and Boyd, but also Dr. Ammons.

It may be an internal decision, however I can assure you that it is the kind that will revervarate across the country.

Last point, if she was so qualified, why was her experience as recruiter NOT mentioned in the article. Someone on her staff and those who applied and were qualified need to contact an attorney.

Until FAMU gets it together and stop this nonsense, my support is STOPPED.

Good luck to her staff, you're going to need it. I will keep you in my prayers.

  20. 5/05/2010 12:37 PM

The problem is we keep "showing people the door" only to open up an even better one across the campus from where they were originally employed. How many employees at this school have been fired from multiple positions on campus, only to get hired in other offices? I personally know plenty, which I find to be despicable.

You get fired from Lee Hall and move on to Foote-Hilyer.....you get fired from Foote-Hilyer and move on to EIT.....you get fired from EIT and you move on to the Law School.....you get fired from the law school and move on to Student Affairs.

When will we break this cycle. This shows the incompetence in our Human Resources department. These fired individuals' resumes should be red flagged. They shouldn't even be making it to the interview process. It's one thing to be fired from some outside entity, but give me a break.....fired on the same campus that is considering hiring the same employee. Has anyone in Human Resources heard of DUE DILLIGENCE?!?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  21. It is my understanding she was offered to resign, which means she was not fired. Can someone provide evidence of any firings?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I know what is done is done, but can be undone? This is too much drama. Peyton Place has nothing on FAMU. When will this cancer stop spreading?

    When will FAMU get it?

    So Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  23. When we get rid of flimsy supporters like you. Offer suggestions or Go sit.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 4:16 & 4:19 I will not get into a contest with you. You have a right to your opinion, however I would like to be clear that the politics have been played on the University. We did not have a VOTE, it was not a democratic process. It was done in a silo, like so many other appointments that are not working out.

All I am trying to impart that if you keep doing business the same way, you are going to get the same results. Why is that so hard to understand.

My other point is that the people who are capable of doing the job, even in this economic climate are not going to continue to take it and you will see the results. Their is an old saying that the best of dogs get tired of being kicked and will retialiate.

So, again this is not your finest appointment. She did not earn it and should not keep it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gaines owes everyone! He wouldnt know his @ss from a whole in the ground!!! All of them look out for each other...thats why Renee can come back and pick up where she left off. I wonder if she'll still be working at the moon too...hmmmm But RN I would like to hear more on the STUDENT ACTIVITIES CONCERNS WITH INGE AND BARNES...now Barnes is the coach for the cheerleaders what about your 8-5 job????...now thats BS!!! For REAL...Come on FAMU lets keep Inge home and out of jail...remember 1997 FINANCIAL AID MESS SHE WAS IN...

    ReplyDelete
  26. This particular discussion is not about Inge or Barnes. Let's keep to the subject at hand.

I have worked with Renee and I can tell you that her skills as a leader are woefully lacking. She can talk and lie her way out of any situation, so I would use extreame caution when discussing anything around and with her.

It is unfortunate that the authors of this decision will never admit their mistake.

I agree with 12:40 FAMU has hired an individual that, according to news articles has no Recruitment experience? WOW Is there an attorney in the HOUSE(BOT)??????

Is there anyway where this information can be obtained?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Did she have to get all her paper from FAMU? Would no other school accept this person?

    ReplyDelete
  28. If most people would communicate positive messages instead of negative it would be a better world. Since most writers seem to have great analytical skills, it would be benefical to apply those skills to help FAMU programs. No human being is immune from negative gossip and no one is perfect. Ms. Washington handle your business and may God bless you, FAMU and all future rattlers.

    ReplyDelete
  29. As a supporter, can you please share what you see as positive.

    Her attitude?
    Her experience?

    What??????????????

    ReplyDelete
  30. Listen, this is just an incompetent hire pure and simple. To make this hire to be the face of FAMU is tantamount to incompetence on Dr. Ammons' part. If someone wants to give Renee a job, God Bless Them but have the common decency to place her where the university can contain the harm she will cause.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have known Renee Washington and Saundra Inge for years. they are hard workers and loyal Rattlers. On behalf of both of them, you haters need to STFU and get a life you low life mutha @#^%$#

    God Bless Castell Lives!

  32. 3:15 p.m. you should be ashamed of yourself. This is not the place for such language.

For the kind of language displayed, your defense of her seems quite evident of the people she hangs with.

This does not help her at all.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Take it down 3:15. If what has been said is the truth, it won't be denied.

Now, blasting Renee is not going to change what has already been done. She can't hold on to something that was not hers from the beginning.

    Stay calm everyone.

  34. For those who have adequately identified why someone with NO recruitment experience gets placed into a leadership role responsible for recruitment have hit the hammer on the nail!

If we were to take action and "boycott" all fundraising initiatives much like the Latino/a community is threatening in Arizonia - perhaps the Adminstration would stop with the "hook up" appointments. Let demand new rules for creating a 21st century workforce for FAMU with ACTION. The alumni should also demand a seat on these hiring committees!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Not sure how this went from Recruitment to Student Activities except for a larger commentary on the state of Student Affairs at FAMU. But I agree with 2:59, 4:28, 4:45 and others and I know for certain that the OSA Director will not leave until she is forced out, and unless Kirby leaves first...it is evident that the two of them have some type of "understanding". The only way either of them will be leaving is students will have to make a clear case to Ammons or whoever the new vice-president (some relative, friend, or political payback of a current administrator seems to be the trend) will invariably be, that they will not tolerate this type of action any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Rattler Nation what is it going to take for you to look into the Student Activities issues with INGE & BARNES....Both are not for the student, administration, nor the community and we all deserve MUCH BETTER! Someone PLEASE alert the President Ammons to look into this!

    ReplyDelete
  37. CORRECTION....^^^^^^.....Deserves Much MORE! We cant let her sit home for 30 days and come back as DIRECTOR TOO!!!!! Lets act fast RN...

    ReplyDelete
  38. We should all take a pledge to recruit at least 2 students.

    Do you accept the challenge?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow.....what truly amazes me is that even to this day, there are people out there that advocate for anything "FAMU" is doing. I am an advocate for the positive and enriching items that FAMU is doing. I remember when Castell Bryant was hired as interim president. Everyone was saying support her, support her....without asking her qualifications to run the top HBCU in the nation. Was it her running Florida Memorial, because that definitely is not in the same league as FAMU.

It reminds me of political parties. All republicans support All Repulicans....no matter if what they stand for is morally or ethically wrong and no matter if they stand for nothing at all.

FAMU has seen its glory days arguably end because many small decisions accumulated into one huge one. Us being put on probation. Hiring personnel based on who is nice or fun to be around and not based on experience, vision and leadership skills keeps us in a dark place. This economy is really bad right now, but FAMU must stop being the only option for its past graduates. It's great to be able to come back home, but only if you're here to work and not stay on a vacation. This hire, like many others including Carla Willis, the appointment of Sandra Inge as interim Student Activies director, to as small of a position as the staff in the orange room, shows a lack of respect for our consumer...... students.

I pray for the day the FAMU asks itself (or the administration does) what is more important......Doing a great job and fulfilling the university mission or appeasing my relative, church member or alum looking for jobs they are unqualified for?

To take a quote from the Great Debators......."Pray we do not take the latter...."

  40. 12:48 p.m., NO!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wait a darn minute... Is this the same Renee Washington that was fired from FAMU Law School as their Registrar? Didn't a particular individual in a high level "legal" position within FAMU Rattler Campus in Tally deceptionally ask the students to write negative letters against R. Washington to get rid of her? Hasn't the same person in a high level position known Renee Washington for a very long period of time? He use to eat meals at her home and she considers him as FAMILY?! I smell a rat and it needs a tighter girdle!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Leadership, wealth of experience, and knowledge are not words that come to mind when I think if this person. She is not the best spoken person we could hire by a long shot. She will manage to find a way to make extra money doing this and there will be another scandal. We could have done ourselves much better with a person of lesser education. Will this affect enrollment, probably not, will we get better at doing the job of recruitment...NO! She will ride this job as long as she can and we will not grow as an organization. She will not make us better in any way.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Is C.A. Floyd still working in recruitment? Let's wait and see who they hire in recruitment. Lets see if the VP position be filled with a person with BS degree!

  44. Any Update On The Topic Of INGE Retiring To Return As Director of Student Activities? What Has The Division of Student Affairs Come To??? I Do Know Student Activities Is There Dumping Grounds. Can ANYONE Tell Me What Does FELICIA BARNES Do During The 8 Hours The State Is Paying Her For FALL, SPRING, AND SUMMER...She Was The Same Person Over Greek Life When The Kappas Got Into All That Trouble...This Chick Had Mr. Royal Down As The Kappas Advisor And Was RETIRED!!!! FELICIA BARNES TIME FOR YOU TO PACK YOUR BAGS AND NOT FOR A FOOTBALL GAME BABY THIS TIME...ITS TIME FOR YOU TO STOP ROBBING THE STATE OF FLORIDA TAX PAYERS AND GET TO STEPPING!!! BUT BEFORE YOU LEAVE PLEASE TELL RN WHAT DO WHAT DO YOU DO FOR 2 HOURS A DAY????? CHILD GIVE IT UP AND GO LOOK FOR YOUR HUSBAND!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I know Mrs. Floyd and yes she is still doing her job in Recruitment (one of the best). They hired the person who's blog you are on.

    ReplyDelete
  46. 5/10/2010 12:21 AM...While I agree with you on one end, I think your last comment was completely out of line and not in good taste. Let's keep it respectful people. The FAMU community are not the only readers on this site.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Can we ask one serious question please?

What has Renee Washington ever been good at? I would have asked "excelled" but Rome wasn't built in a day.

By the way, I'm sure someone's glad they aren't on the top page of RN...HA!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Top or bottom, the fact remains that this will not blow over. The people involved in making this decision will have to pay. Mr. Gaines is gone as of June 30th, however Mrs. Boyd will still be around.

We need to let the administration know how we feel about this HOOKUP AND FUTURE HOOKUPS (INGE). STOP THE UTTER MADNESS FAMU.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just got in town, please tell me that someone or several persons have started a campaign to write this wrong.

Let me know what I can do.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Regardless of how all of you feel about Ms. Washington's appointment, the fact of the matter is, she was appointed. I have known Renee for many years and and I have worked with her and yes she can be a little eccentric, but she cares about students and she works hard. I have seen her go above and beyond for students who need her help. I believe she is qualified for the position because she cares for students and people. What you all NEED to be doing is asking God to help her make a change at this already screwed up school and not judging her on past issues. Because trust me, appointing Ms. Washington is not the worst thing that FAMU has ever done. You all are making accusations about her being fired from the Law School and don't even have specific facts. Ms. Washington, I wish you well in your new position and I know you are going to do a wonderful job!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh, excuse me...5/12/2010 4:05 PM -- I meant to say "ASKED TO RESIGN". I don't have anything against Ms. Washington however, it is peculiar that if what transpired at the Law School by a person that she considers a close friend in the legal department on FAMU campus in Tally would have influence in her appointment, especially if Ms. Washington had proof that the joker threw the rock and hid his hand. If it laughs loud like a duck it will walk like a duck...You can't hide behind those suits and continue to camouflage with girdles. Also, you are right this isn't the first leery appointment at FAM! GO RATTLERS!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have never seen so much hatred on this site behind any appointment. Why isn't there any comments when those Caucasians are appointed on behalf of FAM! Damn so sick of NEGROS with the grab in the barrow attitudes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. This is definitely "PEYTON PLACE"!

    ReplyDelete
  54. This is not haterd, just facts about how people feel. There will be JUSTICE.

  56. can: 1. anyone tell me who Washington's father is &
2: what's washington's relationship to the 1997 financial aid scandal (someone mentioned that.)

    ReplyDelete
  57. 1. Her father was the Registrar and also AVP at one time. He hired and trained R. Gaines. Her mother is Bessie Gaines (related to VP R. Gaines).

Maybe someone else can answer the Financial Aid and also other positions she has held.

    ReplyDelete
  58. niiI just think that if FAMU chooses to employ family and friends and/or family and friends OF friends, make sure they are very well capable of performing the job they are hired for and if not, they should be treated like any other employee that does not produce...be removed or be placed where you're more useful! FAMU has got to stop being their own worst frenemy...it's really shameful!!

Also, if Mrs. Inge comes back, she should not come back as the Director, but be placed somewhere else where she can be useful. The Office of Student Activities need someone that is student/people-friendly. For many students, campus activities is a "release" for them especially dealing with everyday woes and hardships...at least be understanding and warm to them not make them feel like you are doing them a favor because in actuality they are doing the employees a favor by continuing on as a student at FAMU thru increasing fees and limited housing! Oh and Mr. Coleman is not a good replacement for Mrs. Inge...he's definitely NOT a people person...NOOOO WAY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. The buddy system rules at FAMU..

    ReplyDelete
  60. RN Inge Will be returning as Director! I called personnel on friday may 14 to verify her employment status and I was told she was NO LONGER EMPLOYED At The University! I then inquired had she RETIRE....And the answer was YES! The state only requires 30 days for employees to be out after they retire....MAY 31, 2010 WILL BE 30 DAYS!!!! The LEADERSHIP TEAM MUST NOT HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS. If she wants to return...Put her at the DAYCARE!

    ReplyDelete
  61. NO WAYYYYYY! DONT PUT HER NOWHER NEAR THOSE CHILDREN AT THE DAY CARE. EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYTHING MRS INGE PUT HER HANDS ON SHE DESTROY IT...LOOK WHAT SHE DID TO THE HOMECOMING COMMITTEE, HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES, WELCOME WEEK, PARENTS WEEKEND, GREEK WEEKS,CLUBS, STUDENTS A&S FEES, AND ELECTIONS! WHY DOES INGE GETS AWAY WITH ANY AND EVERYTHING! WHO IS PROTECTING HER??? IT CANT BE THE PRESIDENT BECAUSE SHE'S AGAINST HIM AND HIS LEADERSHIP TEAM....HMMMM DOES INGE HAS SOMETHING ON SOMEONE??? MAKES YOU WONDER BECAUSE THIS WOMAN HAS PROVEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TAHT SHE WILL DO AND CONTINUE TO DO WHAT EVER SHE PLEASES BECAUSE THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION CONTINUE TO ALLOW HER TO! DOES ANYONE HAVE BALLS ANYMORE???

    ReplyDelete
  62. Unfortunately....this hire, like many others, means NOTHING to FAMU. It proves why FAMU, is more about politics than the betterment of higher education. We can blog, write, protest, etc, about things like this, but regardless.......Hires like this will continue to happen. I've given thousands of dollars to FAMU in the past, but im officially DONE now. FAMU probably does not care, but this is the stand that I make. I actually would be offended if FAMU
actually knew who gave thousands of dollars, but with a Carla Willis at the helm at donor stewardship and nepotism at the forefront at FAMU day-to-day operations.....its no wonder FAMU is where it is.

But at the end of the day, Ammons and the administration, obviously does not care so if we do......does it really matter?????

    ReplyDelete
  63. I am sooooooooooooooooooo in agreement with the last post. Let your dollars speak for you.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is Washington 3 time at FAMU..Guess how many times she has been fired from FAMU? 2 times..I graduated from FSU and I can smell that rat..

    ReplyDelete
  65. Please learn how to spell. You sound as dumb as she do.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Please do not open a can of worms you know nothing about. Can you prove she was fired? Stop the lies.

    ReplyDelete
  67. One day this will all be over for Inge... She has returned, so her days are numbered. We all know she is a woman who wants to do everything herself, her way and on her time. Somewhere along the lines she failed to realize that its about the students, and no one else but the students.

I went in the office to inquire about Activities for the Fall, I almost had a damn heart attack to find out that they have started planning back in the begining of Spring...Could this be a turn around from the last several years of her running things??? I was here when she first became Interim..

Who is responsible for that, did the university make her start early??

Lets just ride this time out.. November remember....

    ReplyDelete
  68. Just returning from out of the country and trying to catch up. I was so appreciative and greatful to returning to American soil, until I read this. I am afriad that the Administrative Team has let us down, ONCE AGAIN. I had such high hopes for the present administration. If this kind of hiring continues, there will be no FAMU. Ms. Washington is not the kind of person you want the helm of anything, not even Director, of DOG CATCHERS. Can or will anybody save us from ourselves.
FAMU I am disappointed and to show you how much, I will not recommend another student, and I will keep my funds to distribute elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Whatever happen to hiring the most competent person? The FAMU version of "search committee" is a farce. The most competent candidate or the one recommended by the search committee rarely gets the job. And leadership ability? It doesn't seem to count for much. And experience, who needs it?

Most of us "little people" have grown to hate the word "interim." It certainly does not imply having leadership skills and experience in leading a team. FAMU needs to require all its department heads to enroll in an intensive leadership training program.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Recruitment, Fundraising and Alumni Affairs! With competition from other universities for traditional college-age students and dollars, FAMU cannot afford to experiment with "inexperience administrators."

Recruitment and fund raising strategies must change. You can't continue to talk about "College of the Year." My daughter doesn't care about that when it comes to picking a university. She wants to know about today and tomorrow, whether she will get a good education and a job. FAMU must showcase programs and student achievement, not just the President and the Marching 100."

You cannot build your fundraising on the backs of FAMU employees, especially on those who make under $30,000 and who have not gotten a raise in several years. Pay for football turf? Is that really a priority in 2010? My $ will support scholarships and endowed professor chairs!

And why is the director of alumni affairs doing a TV show about community activities? Does that build new alumni chapters?

It's all about experience and training! Wake up FAMU!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I agree with 7/29. One of the reasons for the TV show, is to hide behind the veil of Alan Boyd. I may be off, but continue watching and you will see. She is one of his supporters.

I'm still trying to get how she was hired in the first place, with NO committment to FAMU prior to being hired.

As far as the incompetent Washington, believe me her day will come. Not soon because the President cannot will not admit he made a mistake and Gaines (her mother's cousin) is gone, but NOT forgotten. He still has influence with Ammons.

So to those who she tries to supervise. Hang in there, if you can, if you can't get the HELL out before your sanity is lost forever.
