The FAMU Department of Athletics announced that the Oct. 8 game against Howard University will be slated for homecoming. The MEAC battle between the Rattlers and Bison will headline an exciting week of activities on and around campus.FAMU is 27-6 all-time against Howard. In last year's game in Washington D.C., the Rattlers defeated the Bison 50-7 in a runaway game.
Adding to the excitement of the game is Howard's recommitment to its athletics programs. Their new head coach is Gary Harrell, a 1994 graduate of Howard University, who also served as wide receivers coach at FAMU from 2006-2008.
Last season the Rattlers finished with a record of 8-3 overall. They compiled a 7-1 record in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play by winning their last six of seven games and handing the Bethune- Cookman University Wildcats their only regular season loss in Florida Classic XXXI. The Rattlers, Wildcats and S.C. State Bulldogs were deemed co-champions of the MEAC.
You have got to be kidding me!! Who agreed to this schedule? This is truly not conducive financially (travel/lodging costs and unrealistic game ticket prices - no children's tix) and not to mention it is entirely too early in the season! There are two games back to back that many fans were planning to travel to (USF on 9/17 and Southern on 9/24). Now, with Homecoming being scheduled two weeks after...sad to say but those two games (along with Homecoming and South Carolina State) are the most aniticpated games of the season and now Rattler fans have to pick and choose because we don't even have enough time to plan for Homecoming. I guess my Homecoming will be the Atlanta Classic! Do Better FAMU because you have truly dampened my Rattler Spirit right now!(smdh)
