FAMU running back/kick returner James Owens
was named the National All-Purpose Performer of the Week by the College Football
Performance Awards. Owens led the Rattlers to a 44-20 home-opener
victory over visiting conference foe Hampton University.
He scored three touchdowns during the Tallahassee showdown. He was also the leading rusher for the Rattlers, gaining 161 yards on
11 carries.
The 5'8", 180 lb junior is from Apopka, Fla. He attended Wekiva High School and is a redshirt junior.
Owens was additionally selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic
Conference's Football Offensive Player of the Week, the
conference announced on Monday.
