Pepperdine honors Kinsey as a model of success

FAMU alumnus Bernard Kinsey will be the featured speaker for Pepperdine University’s Dean’s Executive Leadership Series.  This is event is scheduled for October 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Villa Graziadio Executive Center on the campus of Pepperdine University.

As a learned entrepreneur and philanthropist, Kinsey will provide insights about taking action in both the public and private sectors.

Kinsey is a former Xerox executive and former chief operating officer and co-chairman of Rebuild Los Angeles (RLA), now serves as president and founder of management consulting firm KBK Enterprises, Inc. in addition to overseeing The Kinsey Collection. He is a recognized expert and leader in the field of urban revitalization and market development, and as the leader of KBK Enterprises, provides advice and counsel to senior-level executives in the public and private sectors, addressing areas of communication, change management, business process re-engineering and problem solving real issues.

Kinsey was called upon to lead the rebuilding efforts of Los Angeles in his role at RLA, the revitalization entity formed after the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest. He was responsible for generating more than $380 million in investments from the private sector for inner city Los Angeles.

In December 1995, Kinsey was appointed as Honorary Consul General by the U.S. State Department and the Central African Republic. He has counseled the governments of South Africa, Germany, England, and France in economic development.

Kinsey has served as past president of the National Alumni Association for FAMU and helped raise more than $9 million for FAMU.

He completed the Executive MBA program at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management in 1973. He received his bachelor’s degree from FAMU in 1967.  He has received honorary doctorate degree from FAMU and Alabama A&M University.
