Joe Taylor's Rattler football team is off to a 2-3 start this season. The slow start has put him in the hot seat and the temperature appears to be rising by the week.
Taylor is in the final year of a five year contract that reportedly pays him a base salary of $225, 000 a year, with a $12,000 housing allowance.
The veteran coach is overseeing a program coming off a 21-14 loss to Southern University this past weekend in Atlanta.
"His game management and play calling has been awful...If this doesn't turn around soon, I'm predicting that he'll be gone," said one influential Rattler alum.
The Rattlers are 2-0 in MEAC play, but still must face a tough Howard University team in Washington, DC this weekend, before taking on South Carolina State, N.C. A&T and Bethune-Cookman who are expected to contend for the MEAC top spot. If the Rattlers drop one or two of those games the chances of Taylor being kept around look bleak.
Taylor's Rattlers haven't broken the nine win barrier since his first season in 2008 and have yet to win an outright MEAC championship.
