The fallout from the grand theft charges against South Bay City Manager Corey Alston continues.

Gov. Rick Scott has suspended three city council members who are accused of breaking the Sunshine Law in order to hand Alston a $25,139 payment that prosecutors say was illegal. They are: Mayor Shirley Walker-Turner, Vice Mayor Linda Johnson, and Commissioner John Wilson.

Alston is currently on administrative leave from the city. He is the chairman of the FAMU Foundation Board of Directors.

South Bay is a poverty-stricken, majority-black rural town of 4,500 people in Palm Beach County.

Bob Norman, an investigative reporter with ABC’s Local 10 in Miami, thinks there might be additional questions that need to be asked about Alston’s actions in South Bay.

[Corey Alston] lists his address in Lauderhill, more than an hour's drive from city hall,” Norman said in a report. “But when I went to that address to try to speak with Alston, the woman who owns the house said she doesn't know anyone named Corey Alston. And she said she's been living in the house for five years. Understand that this is the address listed on his arrest report and on several of his businesses. Why would Alston list an apparently phony address?”

Norman previously reported on a phony "Obama Voters Guide" that was used to try and mislead Broward County citizens during a School Board Election campaign that Torey Alston, Corey's brother, lost.
