FAMU is finally rid of Charles Langston. Today, Gov. Rick Scott decided against granting Langston another term on the Board of Trustees.

Instead, Scott appointed Glen Gilzean to serve as one of FAMU’s 13 board members.

Gilzean is from St. Petersburg and is currently the vice president of Step Up For Students. He previously worked in the Pinellas County School Board and as a regional field director for the Florida Department of Education. He is a member of the NAACP Education Committee. Gilzean received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Florida.

Glizean’s term will run from today, March 14, 2013, until January 6, 2018.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
