As the FAMU men’s cross country team begins its final preparations to defend its conference crown, it received some good news from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Rattlers have now moved up three spots from No. 12 to rank No. 9 in the South Region of the United States.

“I am happy that our region is recognizing the hard work and competitive efforts of our athletes. It is a well-deserved honor for our young men,” Head Coach Wayne Angel said.

Along with the recognition from the USTFCCCA, the Rattlers now hold the top four times in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) this year.  In addition, they have two more in the top 17 slots.

Angel says the team is training hard to bring another MEAC championship back home to FAMU.

“We are going to take a no-nonsense approach to this competition. Our goal going into MEAC is not only to win, but to dominate, we want to leave a legacy that will not be soon forgotten,” Angel said.
