For the ninth consecutive year, Tallahassee leaders converged on FAMU’s campus to prepare free Thanksgiving meals for low-income families.

The participants included FAMU Interim President Larry Robinson, Interim Tallahassee Police Chief Tom Coe, along with officials representing the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Tallahassee Community College.

“Everybody’s in really good spirits…It’s just really a nice event,” Coe said in a quote published by WCTV-6.

The Thanksgiving baskets included packaged turkey, sliced bread, marconi and cheese, stuffing, and gravy. After boxing the food on campus, the volunteers delivered the meals to 100 local families.

Ray Bellamy, a member of the FAMU academic advising staff, has coordinated the event since its first year in 2004.
