The FAMU men’s and women’s basketball teams are set to kick off their conference season this afternoon as they host in-state rival Bethune-Cookman University in the Al Lawson Center. The first game is scheduled to tip off at 4 pm.
Both Rattler teams enter the contests with identical 3-8 records. The Bethune-Cookman men’s team, with a 3-10 record, brings a notable win against the University of South Florida on December 18 into the matchup. The Lady Wildcats, with a 3-9 record, boast the third-best defense in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), while FAMU’s offense ranks fourth in the conference.
On the men’s side, FAMU holds the conference’s seventh-best offense, two spots ahead of Bethune-Cookman, and the eighth-best defense. Bethune-Cookman’s men’s team ranks third in defense.
This will be the conference opener for both teams. Season ticket packages for Rattler basketball start at $100 for the remaining 13 home games are still available. Individual game tickets are available for $20 each, with courtside seats priced at $60 ($500 season pgk).
