Virginia Union President Claude G. Perkins has announced
the appointment of Joseph “Joe” Taylor as the university’s new athletic
director. Taylor was Virginia Union’s head football coach from 1984 to 1991.
During his 40-year career as a football coach, Taylor has also served as head
coach at Florida A&M University and Hampton University, where he also
served as athletic director.
As the head football coach at FAMU from 2007 through 2012, Taylor had a 35-19 record. His overall career coaching record was 233-96-4.
