FAMU will flip the quarter for its first home game on
September 20 against Coastal Carolina. The remaining home opponents will be
Morgan State, Savannah State, Norfolk State (homecoming game), and South
Carolina State.
The heavy slate of home contests will give the Rattlers a
shot at redemption after chalking up a painful and disappointing 0-5 record at
Bragg Memorial last year, which was Earl Holmes’ first full season as head coach.
“We took our lumps and growing pains last year,” Holmes
said. “That has fueled us in preparing to embark on the journey we set out to
accomplish, which is to restore FAMU football to its rightful place, atop the
[Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference].”
The Rattlers will open 2014 on-the-road at Jackson State in
Jackson, Miss. They will finish their regular season once against at the
Florida Blue Florida Classic in Orlando against Bethune-Cookman, last year’s
MEAC co-champion.
