Rattler Nation has learned that the search for the new FAMU head
football could wrap up as early as today.
From what Rattler Nation has been told, the search
appears to be focused on Alex Wood, interim head coach for the University at
Buffalo. Wood, who has served as the team’s offensive coordinator for four
seasons, was tapped to fill in at the top position in October after the firing of
former Head Coach Jeff Quinn.
Wood, 59, has a large amount of coaching experience at both
the collegiate and NFL level. He served as the head coach of James Madison
University (1995-1998), quarterbacks coach for
the Minnesota Vikings (1999-2002), wide receivers
coach for the Cincinnati Bengals (2003), and offensive coordinator for the Arizona
Cardinals (2004).
Wood earned a baccalaureate degree from the University of
Iowa in 1979.
