FAMU men's basketball team overcomes deficit to secure first road win

The FAMU men's basketball team overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat conference foe Alcorn State 65-64 in Lorman, MS. This hard-fought victory marked a significant milestone for the Rattlers, as it improved their overall record to 6-11 (3-3 SWAC) and secured their first road win of the season.

Sterling Young led the charge for FAMU with an impressive 19 points, while Milton Matthews contributed 16 points to the team's total.   

The Rattlers who are ranked No. 6 in the SWAC standings are back in action on Monday when they travel to 3rd ranked Jackson State (5-14 overall/5-1 SWAC).


Women come up short
Meanwhile, the FAMU women's basketball team faced a heartbreaker in their contest against Alcorn State, losing 75-72 in overtime. 

The women's team, now 6-12 overall (3-4 in the SWAC), had five players score in double figures. Sabou Gueye led the way with an outstanding performance, tallying 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Cheyenne McEvans added 14 points and two steals, while D'Mya Griffin contributed 12 points to the team's effort.
