The FAMU players, who were accompanied by Assistant Coach
D.J. McCarthy and team academic advisor Anthony Williams, met with Center Director
Monique Ellsworth, who accepted the donation. Ellsworth also explained the various
services provided by the center before giving the group a grand tour of the
facility.
Rattler senior linebacker Akil Blount led
his teammates in collecting clothing from the community for donation. Blount is
a finalist for the 2015 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Hands
Team which honors college football players who balance athletics, academics and
community service.
The Kearney Center accepts donations of clothing for the
homeless. It works in cooperation with Goodwill Industries, which issues
vouchers to clients in the center to select items to meet their needs.
