Up until Wednesday, McWilliams was the longest-serving
active member of the FAMU BOT. The BOG
originally appointed him in 2006. He then received a reappointment in 2011 for
a term that was to expire on January 6, 2016.

Yesterday, a Rattler Nation Twitter post broke that news
that Spurgeon McWilliams had stepped down from the FAMU Board of Trustees
(BOT). McWilliams informed Florida Board of Governors (BOG) Chancellor Marshall
Criser, III of his decision to leave in a brief letter.
