In the opener, LIU’s Araina Lopez hit a solo home run in the
bottom of the fourth for the game’s only run.
FAMU had seven hits in the first game, led by senior Jessica
Nathan with two hits, while junior pitcher Kenya Pereira (5-9) got the
decision, allowing one run on five scattered hits in six innings, with three
strikeouts.
FAMU scored two runs in the top of the second for an early
2-0 lead, but Hartford tied the game in the bottom of the inning at 2-2.
The Rattlers scored single runs in the third and fifth
innings for a 4-2 edge, before Hartford rallied in the bottom of the fifth to
tie the score with a two-run surge.
FAMU clinched the game in the top of the sixth, scoring
three runs on two hits and two Harford errors for a 7-4 lead.
Snider (1-1) got her first collegiate career win in the
pitching circle, allowing four runs on nine hits, with four strikeouts and no
walks in seven complete innings.
