Poll shows close race between Lawson and Brown in CD5 primary

U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown holds a lead on Democratic challenger Alfred “Al” Lawson that is slightly above the margin of error in the first poll for their primary matchup in the Fifth Congressional District of Florida (CD5).

A poll by St. Pete Polls shows Democratic voters supporting Brown with 42.3 percent and Lawson with 36.7 percent. 21.1 percent of Democrats were unsure of who they would choose.

The margin of error for the poll is 4.3 percent.

Lawson and Brown are both alumni. The CD5 Democratic primary will take place on August 30, 2016.
