This historic venture marks only the third time in 10
seasons that ESPNU will televise a MEAC volleyball match live. Florida A&M
and Bethune-Cookman participated in the last two live televised contests on
ESPNU in 2010 and 2007 as both contests took place during the regular season.
In the 2010 matchup, the FAMU volleyball team rolled to a 3-1 (25-17, 25-10, 22-25, 25-12) victory over arch-rival Bethune-Cookman in the Al Lawson Jr Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium. FAMU (10-13, 6-1 MEAC) finished the match with 47 kills, while B-CU (7-24, 2-5 MEAC) tallied 32.
The Lady Rattlers had a pair of players to finish in
double-digit kills with Katherine Huanec leading the way with 15, followed by
Maria Ceccarelli with 12. Diana Gonzalez
led FAMU in assists with 38, while Susan Egoavil led the team in digs with 21.
Live coverage of the 2016 MEAC Volleyball Championship will
begin on Sunday, Nov. 20. at 12 p.m. from the William P. Hytche Athletic Center
in Princess Anne, Md. The volleyball championship has been streamed live on
