The game was a rematch from Friday, which also went to UCF,
10-2 in six inning, but this time though, the FAMU Women were determined to
force a different outcome.
UCF (2-2) was facing FAMU’s ace, senior Kenya Pereira (0-2),
and the Kissimmee native was sharp, allowing two runs on just three hits,
fanning four while walking just one.
The Knights tied the game in the bottom of the second on
Cassady Brewer’s RBI double, which scored Tamesha Glover. Brewer later scored
what would be the winning run from third, on a Pereira wild pitch.
FAMU outhit the Knights, 5-3, led by freshman Jamesia
Stoudemire with two hits. Toni Anderson, Amber Fullwood and Irvis each had
singles.
