The YLD Law Student Division Pro Bono Award recognizes the
public service or legal aid performed by a Florida law student who has provided
outstanding contributions to those in need of legal services. The purpose of the award is to promote and
encourage Pro Bono service among law students, and to expose them to the work
that legal aid organizations perform in their local communities.
“Students had the opportunity to apply for the award and submit an application in May,” explained Christian Lexima, a rising third-year FAMU law student who serves as Governor of the FAMU Law YLD Student Chapter. Evaluation criteria includes the total number of Pro Bono legal services hours performed between September 1, 2016 and April 1, 2017.
Irving logged more than 756 hours of legal service to the
public while completing the Guardian Ad Litem, Mediation and Homelessness legal
clinics during his final year in law school.
Along with the award, he received a Florida Bar Review Course provided
free of charge by BARBRI.
