Martin named MEAC Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Florida A&M University junior center Isaiah Martin was selected Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

The 7-0 Denver, Colorado native had nine (9) blocked shots in three games last week, highlighted by a six-block night in Baton Rouge against Southern University on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Martin also had 13 rebounds that night against the Jaguars, six of the defensive variety. He finished the three-game stretch on Sunday with a team-high 14 points, seven rebounds (four defensive) and one block against Georgia Tech.

The junior college transfer from Lamar Community College, is tied for 12th nationally in Blocked Shots (33 in 14 games), and is 34th in Blocked Shots Per Game (2.36).

Martin ranks first in the MEAC in blocks (33), and offensive rebounds per game (3.4), while ranking second in field goal percentage (.604) and seventh in rebounding (7.2 per game).
