Summer 2016 Commencement at FAMU |
Back in the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2016, the SUS schools that competed for PBF got $1.9B from net tuition and fees and only $150M from state investment PBF dollars. The schools were also able to keep $250M for “restoration of base funds.”
For 2017-2018, the legislature gave $245M for state investment PBF and $52M for “Preeminent and Emerging Preeminent State Research Universities.”
That total $297M was still smaller than what Florida International University, University of Central of Florida, University of Florida, and University of South Florida each made on its own from net tuition and fees in 2015-2016.
All the schools also kept the total $275M for “restoration of base funds again” in 2016-2017.
Florida A&M University is currently working to grow its enrollment with freshman classes that have 3.0+ average GPAs. That will help bring in more tuition and fee money in the future.
