Three Florida A&M University (FAMU) Tennis players were named this week to the 2018 All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) teams in advance of the MEAC Tennis Championships.
A pair of men’s Tennis players – juniors Noureldin Adam and Frederico Nani – and one women’s performer - junior Mialiniaina Rakotondrazafy - were recognized by the league’s coaches and media relations directors voting on the team.
Adam, a junior from Khartoum, Sudan, was a first-team selection, after posting a 7-5 record in singles, including a 3-1 record in MEAC play.
Nani, a junior from Cordoba, Argentina, was a second team pick, at 5-6 in singles, with a 3-1 MEAC mark, and he combined with Adam to post the team’s top doubles record at 8-4 overall, with a perfect 4-0 record in conference play.
Rakotondrazafy, a junior from Paris, France, was a second team Women’s team pick, with a 5-9 record in singles, and a 4-1 singles mark in MEAC play. She paired with Karen Machisa to turn in a 5-10 record in doubles, 3-2 in league play.
The MEAC Tennis Championships opened Thursday morning in Norfolk, Va., with quarterfinal play for men and women. The championship round is set for Saturday morning, with the winners advancing to National Collegiate Athletic Association Regional play in May.
