A delegation of top administrators and scientists from Anand Agricultural University (AAU) in India visited Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) from June 18–24, 2018. The visit served as a kick-off to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two universities at Anand in Gujarat, India this spring.

President Larry Robinson, Interim Provost Rodner Wright, and Odemari Mbuya, a professor of agricultural sciences and director of the Center for Water Resources in the FAMU College of Agriculture and Food Sciences hosted the delegation, holding various meetings, tours of research facilities and discussions.

FAMU deans and leaders representing the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and international education areas of the University also met with the delegation. The MoU focuses on AAU collaborating with FAMU in several areas of mutual interest, including international collaborative research, faculty exchange programs, student exchange programs, faculty courtesy appointments, online courses, joint degrees, technology transfer and capacity building.

The partnership will also play a crucial role in farmer and research training in both environments, especially in the area of food security.
