Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum expanded his lead as the #1 gubernatorial choice among black Democratic voters in Florida in the last StPetePolls poll of the primary race.

Gillum finished with 48.6 percent among black Democrats who said they planned to vote in the primary. That’s up seven points from the 41.6 he had in the last poll. This is the third time the StPetePolls results have shown him as the #1 choice of black Democratic voters.

Former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine was #2 with 18.1 percent. That’s down 1.1 percent from the August 19th poll. His support among black voters has remained steady, overall since July. He had 19.2 percent in the August 19th poll, 20.8 percent in the July 31st poll, and 19.1 percent in the July 15th poll. Levine has lots of name recognition among black voters in the Miami area.

Former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham saw an increase in support. She finished with 14.3 percent, up 1.2 percent from the last poll. That’s still down from the 18.3 percent she had in the July 15th poll.

Real estate investor Jeff Greene was #4 with 7.8 percent. He was previously the #1 candidate among black Democratic voters in the July 15th poll with 23.4 percent, but his support has taken a big fall since that time.

A total of 7.2 percent of black Democratic voters said they were still undecided.

The poll showed that 47.8 percent of black Democratic voters had already voted and 52.2 percent said they planned to vote.

The primary election will take place on tomorrow, Tuesday, August 28th.
