A new Hyatt House hotel is slated to be built near campus

A new 120 room Hyatt House hotel is being planned for the Railroad Square Art Park, just at the foot of the hill from FAMU on Wannish Way and Railroad Avenue.  Construction is scheduled to begin in April of this year with the hotel set to open in January 2021.

The hotel will come with a separate 6,000 square-foot retail complex.  The Hyatt House will become just the third hotel to open near FAMU in the past few years following the Hampton Inn (2018) and the Residence Inn (2010).

Lowes Hotel- Tallahassee 

Construction recently started on a new 140 Indigo Hotel at College Town on Gaines Street less than a quarter mile away from Campus, and a new 154 room AC by Marriott hotel is scheduled to open in Cascade Park in late 2020.

In addition a 19 story, 270 room, Lowes Hotel is under construction in downtown Tallahassee just behind the Leon County Courthouse.  

The new hotels, could bring more competition to the Tallahassee market and bring an end to price gouging during football season and graduations.
