Moore broke the news to her team via a group message, saying “ Yesterday was my last day. Honestly, I have fought a long hard battle to get us the basics such as shoes, uniform and wind suits. I feel that I have not nor have my teams received the support that I wanted to receive from my administration. I am truly sorry.”
The resignation comes on the heels of the Rattlers completing its 2019 FAMU Relays against Tuskegee, FSU, Albany State, and TCC. The 2018 FAMU Relays were abruptly canceled just hours before the start of the event with FAMU sighting the construction of the Center for Access and Student Success, in the Gaither Gym parking lot, as the cause.
Despite the lack of support, Moore's teams have had mixed results, but had excelled in cross country where her teams won seven MEAC Championships. Earlier this year her Lady Rattlers track team finished in 2nd place in the MEAC Indoor Track Championships. The men’s team was disqualified from participating because of grades. Her women’s teams won outdoor MEAC Championships in 2015, 2016, & 2018. She was named Coach of the Year in 2018.
Moore's resignation comes nearly a month after FAMU Head Football Coach Willie Simmons used his Facebook and Twitter pages to write a passionate open letter to fans, which among many things addressed his concern about the levels of support his team has received.
