Nicola Boothe Perry, associate dean for academic affairs at the FAMU College of Law, was yesterday named interim dean of the College. She replaces former interim dean LeRoy Pernell, who was appointed interim in May 2017.
Pernell had previously served as Dean of the law school from 2008 to 2015 but was brought back after the dismissal of former Dean Angela Felecia Epps. Epps had spent only 16 months as dean before she was removed.
Pernell’s dismissal comes just one day after the February Florida Bar exam scores were made public. FAMU Law graduates posted a 45.5 percent passage rate, up from 36.7 percent in February 2018, and 50.6 in July 2018.
A national search for a permanent leader of the Orlando-based law school is currently underway.
