Rattler baseball team begin MEAC tournament play today

The FAMU Rattler baseball team will begin its run for the MEAC Championship this afternoon at noon in Daytona Beach, FL.  The Rattlers, the No. 2 team in the MEAC South, will face the Hornets of Delaware State, the No. 3 team from the MEAC North.

That game will be followed at 3:30 p.m. contest between MEAC North No. 2 Coppin State and MEAC South No. 3 Savannah State. 

The losers of those two games will square off at 7 p.m. in an elimination game. Wednesday’s winners will advance to Thursday to take on the top seeds ---Norfork State and NC A&T--- both of which earned byes and will not play on Wednesday.  

The Championship game will be played on Saturday. 

Only the top three teams in the MEAC Northern and Southern divisions made the six team double-elimination tournament.

The Rattlers are vying for their eighth (8th) MEAC Tournament title since 1987, and their first since 2015, the second season under current head coach Jamey Shouppe.
