Richard Schweigert has been appointed as the University’s interim chief financial officer and vice president for Finance and Administration. He will begin work on August 1.
He previously served as CFO and director of Government Relations for the Colorado State University System for 10 years. Schweigert stepped down from that position in 2016.
At FAMU, Schweigert will lead the Division of Finance and Administration which includes the Budget Office, Controller’s Offices, Business and Auxiliary Services, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Facilities, Planning and Construction.
Im making the appointment, FAMU President Larry Robinson said Schweigert has the strong financial and administrative background that can benefit FAMU at this crucial time. “With Mr. Schweigert in place, it gives us the opportunity to conduct a thorough search for a permanent CFO. I look forward to having him on board as part of the Senior Leadership Team.”
Just last month, the Division of Finance & Administration recently lost its top three financial staffers following the forced resignation of former CFO Wanda Ford, and the firing of Budget Director Ronica Mathis and Comptroller Tiffany Holmes.
