Legendary former FAMUTrack & Field Bobby Lang has been selected  by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for induction into its 2019 Coaches Hall of Fame Class. Lang coached at FAMU for over 40 years (1966-1999).

When it came to FAMU track, Lang was virtually a one man show. He coach the speedsters, women, men, cross country, shot putters, pole vaulters --- he did it all. And, he did it by himself. His teams won 38 conference championships.

Lang was the first MEAC coach to win conference championships in cross-country, indoor and outdoor track - a triple crown.

While at FAMU he produced track All-Americans such as Pam Oliver and Olympian Rey Robinson. Robinson went on tie the record for the 100-meter dash and Oliver went on to become a successful Fox Sports broadcast reporter.

Lang also was a member of the Rattler football coaching staff, coaching along side coaching greats A.S. "Jake" Gaither and Rudy Hubbard.  He was a member of the coaching staff that won the 1978 inaugural I-AA football national championship.

Started in 1995, the USTFCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame exists to recognize coaches who have brought great distinction to themselves, to their institutions and to the sports of cross country and track & field. Each of the honorees exemplifies the qualities of dedication to the sport, leadership and passion for their profession and serves as an inspiration to coaches everywhere.
